I know in No Man's Land it has been brought up that we have all been feeling a little down lately, and due to the lack of sunshine over the last couple of weeks, I found some interesting info:

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)
The feeling of gloom that accompanies shorter days, grey skies and a reduced amount of sunlight affects many thousands of people in the UK to a greater or lesser extent, and in fact gets worth with latitude - Scandinavians are particularly prone, while the disorder is virtually unknown near the equator. If you find that you, or someone you know, is regularly exhibiting the symptoms (http://www.belljar.co.uk/symptoms.htm) of depression during the winter months, there's every chance that the person is suffering from SAD. There is a direct link between lack of sunlight and depression in many people. This can be treated (http://www.belljar.co.uk/treat.htm#5) quite easily, usually without the need for anti-depressants or therapy.

10 years ago my family spent around a week in the Seattle area during the month of December and we saw gray skies almost the entire time there. We were told that Seattle in the winter had a very high rate of depression.

"The sun will come out tomorrow...." NOT!! Weatherbug is saying we are suppose to get sun on Friday. I may take that day off and just go sit it in the entire day.

Oh, no need to feel sorry about it. I put it in my blog and said that it was really affecting me...after only a day or so. I didn't do any real research or anything; just know that I get it BAD. ;) (no tanning bed relief for me, though. Too freakin' pale)

Seriously, the tanning bed thing DOES work.
There is just something about those warm UV rays.
BUt what sucks is that the place I go to tan has now installed those new bulbs that only take 1/2 the time to tan! AH!!!
I liked my 20 minute Imaginary Beach NAP!!!!:ip:

well, I didn't tan... worked out for a little longer instead. Guess I'll just use my Jergins tan lotion stuff to get a little color... and save my skin from and extra wrinkle!

I think the website intended to make a distinction by the use of the word "serious" but I don't want people feeling the blues to start sticking their fingers in light sockets.
I'd hook the girlfriend up to the car charger, but she's an antique, and I can't determine if she's positive or negative ground.
Might not cheer her up, but it might raise my spirits.

Good prophylactic for SAD:

1) Ass around with your friends on MH.com
2) Go to Donnanelle's, eat a good piece of meat or fish, and
listen to some good people shoot the bull
3) Exercise - at least walk
4) Listen to old rock and roll music
5) Start a "project" of some kind - any kind!

I've fought it off for years - but don't tell nobody. Dang, I would not want anyone to think I was "unstable" or anything!!!

You get Vitamin D from the sun and you can also get that vitamin from the lamps of the tanning bed. The Lack of the vitamin D in your system is what makes you S.A.D. I am calling tropitanna now!

Just wish my office had a window! Naturally, yesterday was my day off... now that it's sunny out I have to work 8-5! I went for a nice walk during my lunch break though.

The sun is sure a welcomed relief. Let's all go outside and play.
