This thread occured to me on the southern man thread but I thought it was too off topic so I started a separate thread.
Have you ever been on a blind date?
If so, how'd it turn out?

I'll go first.
Afriend of mine called up & told me a girl he knew from class had asked him out & then called to cancel because a friend of hers wanted to go do something & she didn't want to treat him as a third wheel. He told her he could get a date for her friend
He called me up & asked me if I'd help him out.
I didn't want to because I'd just gotten back from having my leg stitched up (Freak wood carving accident)
He said that was fine, he'd bring the girls over & if I didn't want to go I could just sorry I just cut my leg & I hurts too bad.
He showed up with the girls & he had a wierd look on his face.
One of the girls was nice looking but nothing special.
The other was a knock out! Long blonde hair, green eyes, supermodel good looks, & built like a brick sh!thouse.
Turns out the good looking one was mine!
We ended up dating for nearly a semester when she had to go back to Atlanta.

Fuzz's one and only blind date experience (http://www.myhattiesburg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16248). (but I might would do it again...if it were a friend who was fixing me up with a friend...not the whole friend of a friend of a friend thing. *shudder*)

I know of two young people who were fixed up to meet at a dance. The girl tried as hard as she could to get out of it, even went somewhere else, only to run into a friend who was going to the same dance. So she had to go. Turns out the guy was really cute, had beautiful dark hair and gray eyes, and she totally fell for him and he for her. In fact, he said he knew the minute he met her that she was the one. All I can say is . . . thanks, Mom & Dad!!

Probably....But no matter how good it was, any memories of it pale compared to my wife (said for her benefit, since she does lurk here).

I can think of one....a friend set me up. Turned out she was fairly skanky. Didn't see her again, and didn't stay friends with my friend long after that either.

Does having a date with someone you met on the internet count as a blind date?

I don't know I always considered a blind date to have some kind of set up by a third person.

Although, I guess you would consider my wife and I started as a blind date. We were set up by mutual friends. Met for dinner at their house. I'd seen her picture, but she didn't have the same advance intel on me. Engaged 1 month later, married a month after that. We'll celebrate our 15th anniversary this fall.

That's so sweet! I've never actually been on a blind date and I must say I'm glad. I met my husband my freshman year in college so I didn't have much time for blind dates. :smt038

The only blind date I ever went on wasnt so bad, the toughest part was getting her seeing-eye dog loaded up in the truck.

GQ-looking guys? Like the one I was walking around a mall with once long ago and when we looked in the window of a formal shop, I said, "I'll bet you look nice in a tux" and he answered, "yes, I do."
I'd rather go out with a friendly ordinary DECENT guy than any GQ type ever. So chill about that.

Which brings up another topic...(and I think we've discussed it before)...the metrosexual male. :smt102 Doesn't do anything for me.

I've never been on a blind date and don't see myself going on one anytime soon.

I'm really nice to most everyone in person, so though I'm being nice and friendly alot of women take it as flirting and interest when theres really not any interest at all. In fact the girl who runs my apartment complex looked up my personal number in their directory b/c she though I was interested in her... talk about uncomfortable.

ok... here is my kinda lengthy blind date story...

I had just moved from my hometown, where I had a huge yard, and a 100lb bulldog that ran free on my land. To the petal city limits, with no yard and no fun things for my bulldog to do anymore... Instead of being selfish and keeping my free spirited dog leashed all the time, I contacted an old friend from Tylertown, and asked if he would like to take custody of my sad bulldog. He of course, knowing the dog very well and having dogs of his own, said yes. What a favor he did for me!

A couple weeks after this, he calls with the "PERFECT" guy for me! He has reunited with a childhood friend through work, and just thinks he and I would be perfect for each other! He wanted us to meet and have a few drinks, only, my old friend would be unable to attend! I figured it couldnt hurt, and besides, he had done such a great thing for me just recently.... i couldnt say no, right?

SO A BLIND DATE IT WAS....

I soon found out that the location was already chosen: RED LOBSTER.
I dont know about the rest of you, but red lobster has to be my LEAST favorite of ANY restaraunt in the ENTIRE world. GROSS. But that was the meeting point.
I get to Red Lobster, and stand at the front door patiently. I soon see a HUGE, white, utility-type, work truck pull in to park. I could not help but notice the large, bright orange water jugs attached to each side.

THIS CANNOT BE THE GUY. THIS CANNOT BE THE GUY.
It was the Guy.
Now this guy had to be in his late 40's early 50's. (I was 23, by the way) He had Grey hair, and was 5 ft.... 5 ft PERIOD!
Im about 5' 7" without heels. I had on heels this night, and an important detail.... heels with OPEN TOES.

He introduced himself, and we proceded to walk in and be seated. He talked small talk and about how he had SO much money he didnt know what to do with it all. I must have had a look of terror in my eyes during dinner, because the manager checked on us no less than 5 times throughout the hour ordeal.
The worst part about the whole thing, we finished eating , and I notice that while Im answering one of his meaningless questions, he keeps STARING under the table! He would not quit staring at my FEET! He sees that I have caught him in mid-DROOL, and procedes to tell me in detail how BEAUTIFUL my feet are, and what a foot fetish he has. And how my toes are the most perfect toes... on and on... He may have mentioned other fetishs, but at that point, my brain took me to a happy place. UH!

The check comes, and he pats his pocket... stands up and looks around. He does a sort of self body search, and then says he left his wallet in the truck. AH! He leaves out, and I make a quick call to Petal Misfit! I thought he was going to skip out on paying! But Thank God, he returns, and pays out... He offers to take me out for a drink elsewhere but I politely said no thanks. He hops in his Construction Mobile and rides away...

I have only talked to my EXfriend from my hometown since then about my dog and my dog only. Funny, but we have not even discussed the date. I think its safe to say, I will NEVER go on a blind date again (and i will certainly never wear open-toed heels again on a date!). :)

I have never understood the foot thing.
I heard once that the sex part of the the brain & the foot part of the brain are adjacent & that sometimes some cross wiring happens.
Now, ankles, that's an entirely different matter.

I've only been on one blind date... it was basically noneventful. It was about 3 weeks after my first major break up, and I was still devastated. But, I had some sorority sisters who insisted they knew the PERFECT guy for me. Well, we all met up... he was attractive, but not talkative at all. Considering I'm pretty shy, it made things a bit akward. Nothing bad, nothing good- just a night.

I don't really like the idea of blind dates. They're just too weird for me. It may turn out to be a fairy tale for some, but most are horror stories.

no-halo, I'll donate some of my chest hair to you if you want. It's all different colors, so you can decide which one you'd like. I've only got about 10,000 of them, so, they're free for the taking.

As for foot fetishes, I don't go so far as a fetish, but every part of the body can be sexy.
