Does anyone know a good location for a garden type wedding besides the Crawford House? Oh and does anyone has any clue as to how much the Crawford House is to rent? (ballpark)

I can't find the listing for Camellia Gardens. I'm trying to help my brother-in-law out. They want a garden wedding and they are checking pricing of different locations. I was drawing a blank. I can't find a website on Camellia Gardens either but I found sites on the other two. Any other suggestions are more than welcome!

I think Camellia Gardens quit doing public stuff and only let people that they know use the place. I'm pretty sure the house is a private residence now.

Curious are they wanting to stay in a particular location? If not, Bellingrath Gardens in Mobile allows garden weddings. Also, City Park Gardens in New Orleans did pre-Katrina and have/had a lovely glass gazebo where you could have the wedding.

I didn't think Camellia Gardens was still operating. I thought they shut down several years back.

Ash-Leah Manor is a nice place. I looked at it many years ago. When I was inquiring it was $1200 just to rent the place for the day (10 hours). If you elected to use your own caterer nothing was provided, linens, serving dishes, etc. If you used their caterer, they, of course, provided everything.

If you elect to have it on a Sunday - I think they may give you a break.

There's Hotel Alice in Ellisville, but I don't know if they have an outdoor area that can be used or not.

What about Eden Acres in Sumrall? Has anyone seen used it? I hear it has a big lake and it's really nice but you do everything yourself (which is totally fine).

The Crawford house charges out the A$$. I looked into getting married there.
One thing that tweaked me was that they charged for chairs outside. Which I can understand, but when I told them my church was letting me use their chais & I had some friends who would help set up & decorate. They told me it didn't matter they charged a fee for people to bring their own chairs & set up that was the same as the chair fee.
I was on a budget &couldn't afford it.
I got married at Ashleah Manor, But I got a good deal cause the owners were ol family friends & I traded a sign for their services.

We've done a few receptions there, but no weddings. The ballroom is huge and the staff is awesome. But I'm not sure if they have an actual outdoor venue to hold a wedding ... although, I have been known to be *very* wrong in some cases. :smt102

There is also the Wysteria House in Laurel and the Garden Center in Jackson. We are doing a wedding in Jackson in March and did one at the Wysteria House back in February. Both are very pretty, not sure about the prices though. Lake Terrance does them too. We have also done some weddings that were outside at someone's house ... like one of them was on the Bride's Dad's home. He had this huge backyard and decorated it all up in white lights and lilies ... it was beautiful!! He had a crew come in a build a dance floor, that he's turned into his back deck now ... so they had the wedding and reception there and then sent baby girl off to her honeymoon. It was sweet. If you have a friend or family that has a decent size yard, that may be an option ... a plus to this route ... you have creative and price control.

Curious one, years ago I went to a wedding in Mynelle Gardens up in Jackson and it was pretty. Picture a small Bellingrath. It was small and I don't remember about the reception.

You could probably call Jackson chamber of Commerce or google it.

I remembered I saw a wedding being held at Paul B. Johnson.. It was cowboy-themed. The bride was in a white gown.

Oh, I remembered my cousin got married outdoors at wiggins Country Club by the lake and reception inside.

There's also Big Creek Lodge, just across the Lamar County Line off Hwy. 42. I don't know if they do too many outdoor weddings, but the lodge is really great.

A friend of mine's daughter was married at Eden Acres in Sumrall. I did not attend the wedding but I did see pictures. Beautiful. I don't know about charges but it was relatively inexpensive. From what I understand, one wall is a solid window so even when inside it you have a beautiful view. Of course, that was pre-Katrina.

Elks has a covered area outdoors that has been used for weddings, but I think you have to be or know a member to use it. I also know of people who have been married at the walking track in Dixie. Their are a ton of azaleas (sp? pretty pink flowers) that bloom in the spring and it can be made to look nice and it would be FREE.

Crosby Aboreautum (sp) in Picayune has a beautiful pavillion that sits over a lake...it is beautiful...don't know the price but it probably cheaper than alot of places. Landrums Country in Laurel is a beautiful place too...a friends son got married there and it was beautiful...the little country church is so goregous!

Really- I know a bunch of people that have gotten married there because the rental is not that bad. I am using them for off site catering. I thought their prices were fine. Cheaper than Southern Oaks for sure.

If you are looking for an outdoor location for less than 75 guests the outdoor garden at Southern Oaks is great. Lisa there can help you with budget concerns. You can go from cake and coffee to a 5 course meal. They do not allow outside food or drinks and I am not sure if they allow outside florists since they provide that service as well. In 2003 it was around $1000 to rent the entire facility....the meeting rooms were $100 each and I assume the gardens could be reserved alone and you would have the option to come inside if the weather was bad, plus there is a partial covered area outside. Ash-Leigh Mannor is nice but I have heard horror stories of inclement weather. They are limited in indoor seating and can only accomidate 30 ish people. So if it rains you party in the mud........it rained 3 or so inches on our wedding day in June '03.
