Is there a shooting range in Hattiesburg?
I don't know of a public shooting range here in Hattiesburg. If you are interested in shooting--target practice. 58ford has started a gun club and thread here and it lists ranges on it. Go to groups and ask to join. 58ford and several have put a lot into organizing it and trying to arrange a place to shoot, possibly an instructor.
Hope to see you on the thread over there.
I think the closest ranges I found was a gun club up in Ellisville and a public range down in Wiggins--all on the threads in the gun club or google them.
I'm looking for a place to shoot my pistol with someone that can give me a little guidance and show me how to clean it etc...

What kind of handgun do you have?
They still make .32 ammo?
I told you I need guidance. I have about nine bullets that I have had for a long time. Should I be shopping for a new gun?
lol. I didn't want to say it, but yes. A .32 is better than nothing, but you can move up to a modern .38 sp or .357 that's about the same size and has much more stopping power and ammo is readily available.

I have a 1905 .32 S&W Long, It's a tiny little pistol. If you buy ammo for it be sure to get the proper length cartridge. S&W .32 short is still available but dificult to find (they don't carry it at Wal-Mart) shorts will work in a pistol built for longs, but you lose a lot of power. Both shorts & longs are available through Old Western Scrounger http://www.ows-ammo.com
If this is an older gun have it checked by a qualified gunsmith before you fire it.

As for the .32's stopping power yes it is minimal, but the .32 long is much more potend than the .32ACP a lot of us are familiar with.
Okay so if I was to go gun shopping what would you recommend for protection. And if I was to sell the .32 how would I go about that?

Scan or photo the gun & put it on the classifieds here. I for one might be interested, depending on year model & condition.
As a private citizen (not a dealer) you can sell your gun w/out any paperwork etc., but Get the name adress, etc. of whoever you sell it to & have them sign it & make up a bill of sale for them.
As for a new gun for yourself I recommend pawn shop plus on W. Pine St.
As far as a type of gun, I'm with IGID a .38 or .357 revolver is a great choice for a novice I like Taurus/Rossi products for their price & quality, if budget isn't a concern you can't do better than a Smith & Wesson.
A .357 although a little more expensive offers you the advantage of being able to shoot less expensive .38 cartridges for practice, but the far more potent .357 for self defense.

Or maybe there is a maximum allowed on the size and quality of one's gun. :smt118
Well maybe he'll still let you in regardless!! :smt118
Gentlemen when are you going to learn it's not the size of the gun.:smt070
There was one in the former Hickory Springs Mattress building on West Pine Street, but, since no one has mentioned it, I'm guessing it's no longer there.

Doc You have been accepted, to the group now. Sorry, this is the first group I've done & I'm still trying to get things straight.
Menbership to the Shooting Club is not yet open I'm working on it, but also this is something I've not done before, so its going a little slow but as soon as is ready all group members will be PMed applications.
For others wanting to joint the Shooting Club Group, I will post your request in the admissions thread in the Shooting Group, then if noone objects with in a few days I will admit you. Other members of the Shooting Group please visit the admission thread once in a while to make sure noone you object to wants in or to vouch for someone you're sure of. I'm just trying to prevent a dolomite or something messing up harmless conversations.
