Not only did it not happen locally, it didn't really happen at all (http://www.snopes.com/horrors/madmen/hairyarm.asp). There's one case of a rapist/murderer letting the air out of a victim's tire and helping her change it, but the similarity ends there.

I guess it's good if emails like that get people to think, but it's I hate to think there are people out there that live in fear because of all the things that MIGHT happen.

QM, someone sent me the same e-mail last week....it may not be totally the truth BUT if it helps to make people aware of possibility I think it could be a good thing...I do hate for all us girls to be totally wigged out but like you said the main thing is to PAY ATTENTION to your inner self and also be aware of your surroundings...

Queen Mother, thank you for sharing your concern about her safety. I appreciate your intent and concern about us keeping ourselves out of harm's way.

I am taking advantage of a women's self awareness and self-defense class being offered at USM now. Protector did a thread on this awhile back and I am learning from it. I have had some classes before on this. This is good for me - it is different and a good review in awareness, techniques and helpful to me. I can learn a lot from watching others as well as my own involvement. Oh, it is a free service offered by USM POLICE DEPARTMENT. I am grateful to them for this.

A trick I've been hearing about lately is waitress robberies.
Punks hanging out in parking lots & robbing waitresses as they get off work.
Waitresses usually get tipped in cash so they are easy quick money targets.
Ya'll servers be careful out there leave work in groups & don't be embarassed to ask someone to walk you to your car.
