OK, I used to could stay warmer. Am taking a low-dose high blood pressure med and a fluid pill.

Any suggestions on how to stay warm or what you do. :smt102 The heat is on 70.

I am bone chilled.

I covered the chair in my living room with a heated mattress pad, which is then covered with a slip cover. I also have a heated throw that I can use if the heated chair doesn't seem to help.

Fleece blankets. Lots of them.

My boyfriend got me one of these (http://www.theslanket.com/) for Christmas. Best. Present. Ever.

Take a hot bath, then put on a turtleneck and sweater or sweatshirt, grab a pair of hubby's long socks, and a pair of sweatpants or heavy jeans.

Polar-Tek. I just love this stuff. Wool socks. Wrap up in a blanket. And, if handy, cuddle with your significant other. :)

if i'm cold, i take a hot bath. or at least put my feet in hot water. if my feet are cold, then the entire rest of me is cold.

A kitty on the foot can be pretty warmth-inducing, although not nearly as funny as a kitty tearing up a peppermint. :smt102

There's nothing like a 95lb lap dog laying on you to warm you up.

You got one too, huh? Better have your remote, the cordless phone your book and your favorite liquid next to you, cause you aren't getting up.

yes, actually he has! and Fuzzis, you're right... Sebastian likes to lay on my feet when I'm on the couch... or If I'm laying down he wants to be right up next to me with his head on my shoulder. I have a 100lb golden retriever at my parents house that likes to think she's a lap dog too.

I sew as a hobby (mostly stuffed animals), a few years ago i made a quilt, three layers of batting interspersed with two of those silver mylar space blankets. I believe I could survive a week in the arctic with nothing but this quilt & a fifth of bourbon.
The only drawback is that since almost no heat can escape you have to pull it back everyonce in a while cause it gets so hot.
Cuddling is ggod but cuddling always leads to sex & ya get all hot & sweaty & then after ya cool off your sweat gets cold & ya freeze (not that I mind that much)

My Blackberry likes to curl up on my feet, inside the omnipresent quilt. The Peach prefers to lounge on my shoulder, eventually making her way down my chest to rest the front half of her body on my breast. She weighs about 12 pounds, and I find that after about 10-15 minutes, it's very uncomfortable. If she'd lay on my lap, it would be OK.

At my age, you never know if you're hot or cold and you go between the extremes so frequently that you just have to be prepared for anything!
Isn't that the truth! And sometimes both hot and cold at the same time. :(

Hi Daisy.
OK, I used to could stay warmer. Am taking a low-dose high blood pressure med and a fluid pill. Ah!!It's not just me, huh?
I've noticed that effect, too.
I don't tolerate the summer heat as well either.:(
Any suggestions on how to stay warm or what you do. Ahhhhh . . . . . . fleece type 'warm-ups' are pretty nice. They're warmer than thermal knit long johns. And more attractive.
Thick wool socks - if you can wear wool.

Durn. I never thought I'd see the day that I'd tell a gal to put on MORE clothes, but I guess today's the day.:)Heh heh heh
Anyway - leaving that aside - - - -

Put a big size heating pad on the floor under your computer desk. I've one under mine right now. Highly recommended. They only draw about 50 watts of electric power - as opposed to small plug-in electric heaters which draw about 1500 watts. And . . . . . the heating pad is quiet - no fan noise.:)

The heat is on 70.Iterating someones suggestion - turn up the heat.:) Increase the thermostat setting by one or two degree increments, over a day or two, until you're comfortable.
Pamper yourself a bit.
Ignore the self proclaimed experts that recommend 68° or 70°.
Admittedly, the lower setting will save on the heating costs. So would turning off the heat completely. But it's just not comfortable for most folks.
Thrift and economy are admirable and necessary, but one of the reasons we drag outta bed and go to work is so we can allow ourselves some creature comforts. So - get comfortable. There's enough misery in life without self induced misery.:)

You got that right, Ted! I started the season with mine set at 66. That was fine to begin with. Then it hit 68. Now it's on 70 and our gas bill shows it. But like you said, that's what we work for. Rather than pay $150 and be cold, I'll gladly pay $200 to be warm. Life's too short.

Hi JMB.

. . . . I'll gladly pay $200 to be warm. Life's too shortYeah, me too.

Given our climate down here, we're 80°F - and above - for 9 months of the year - so, we never have time to get fully acclimated to lower temperatures.
I keep my apt. at about 75° during the Winter and about 78° during the warmer months. That's comfortable for me.

I've been on BP meds for a year or so I found that Exercise perhaps a class at the Y would help. These meds are good but there's nothing like an hour of aerobic exercise or more to help your body's Homeostasis. It's worked for many I know and I'd think your doc would agree.Even if you just turn on some music and dance I think you'd be suprised at the change in one week..I actually become hypotensive so i'm about ready to quit taking them.I just need a good tennis partner.I do understand though.....

I've always heard that you lose a large amount of heat through your head because the brain requires the most blood and needs that blood to be the right temperature. Your brain controls everything else in your body (your ability to think and act, as well as the ability for your body to maintain a particular temperature).

So when I'm cold and can't seem to get warm, I get in the shower, get the water as hot as I can stand it, and I stand with my head directly underneath the showerhead. I stand there as long as it takes for my body to feel warmed up and it works every time for me. When I get out, I put on some flannel pj's and I'm warm the rest of the night. :smt038

. . . . Blackberry . . . . .Blackberry, huh?
There's a fuzzy black cat that lives next door to me and I think it's name is Blackberry.
Hmmmmmm . . . . .
Perchance - do you have four cats, a Catahoula named Bruiser, and know a stump tailed kitty named Cosmo?
If so, we may be sharing a driveway.:)

LOL! Nope. Just a fuzzy black cat named Blackberry and a neurotic black and white one named Peach. :smt038 :smt038 Anymore than that, and I'd be one of those stereotypical cat women. (my friends will only allow me 2 animals at a time:smt118 )

It's more that the scalp is extensively vascularized - lots'a blood vessels and capillaries.

I've found that taking a multi vitamin helps me out when I'm feeling cold. I only get cold on my fingers and toes, though, cause I'm so well insulated.

:) Ah. OK, Fuzzis.
Heh heh heh
Just a coincidence - two fuzzy kitties named Blackberry.
I was beginning to wonder if we were next door neighbors.

The fellow next door - his former wife abandoned him and Cosmo the stump tailed cat (Japanese Bob Tail) and he didn't want the cat and I felt sorry for the pore ole kitty and started feeding her since she had been hanging out with me for a couple of years anyway. For some reason she seemed to like it better over here that at home.
I guess she thinks I belong to her now.

Daisy, I am not on medication and am having problems with body temp too. When others are fanning themselves-I am looking for a jacket or blanket. I actually have a blanket I keep at the bowling alley. I am like a big baby-gotta have my blankee with me. People may think I am weird but I am always cold. The older I get the worse it is. I sit in my house with a blanket around me and my 6'6 370lb. hubby can't understand. Big people produce a LOT more body heat than smaller people. I have always said if I get a divorce it will be due the temperature control in my house. That is sad isn't it?
