Once again, Ray Guy not elected to Pro Football Hall of Fame! Michael Irvin gets in, but the best punter that will ever play the game gets left in the cold...What a shame!

Maybe there is not room for hunters. An old Ripley playmate, Jim Miller, has not got in either. Jim played for NO SAINTS, 49ers and Cowboys--bare-footed punter. I spoke to a man up there about it and there is a whole lot of things they look at. Only so many get in a year.

Yeah, I understand that a lot of people don't view punters and kickers as "real" football players (I've been guilty of saying that as well). However, some people don't realize how many games are won and lost in the kicking game. Ray Guy was the punter EVER. Think he deserves a spot.

I agree he deserves a spot and for the record, I spoke with a guy in the Mississippi Sports of Hall Fame up in Jackson.

Ray Guy also hols the record at Usm for the longest field goal--62 yards against Utah State.

I mentioned this @ Ray Guy and b/f said Ray Guy was the only NFL punter to hit the Instant Replay Screen on the top of the ceiling(moved now) inside the Super Dome back in the 1977 or so. Instant replay screens are now on the ends.

Someone mentioned he donated money towards the USM Equestrian Center years ago. No longer there.

Ray Guy was the best all around athlete ever to walk the USM campus. He was the best punter in the history of the NFL. He was the back-u[ QB several years while in Oakland. Should not be forgotten that he was an all-conference safety in college while punting. First punter to be #1 draft choice. Al Davis, John Madden, and all of us around here should it upon ourselves next year to try to get Ray in the Hall of Fame. Wonder if Rick Cleveland, Michael Rubenstein, and Mitch Williams could help us know where to start?

Add Art Monk to the list with Ray Guy! I didn't realize that Art was not already in the Hall. What a travesty! Michael Irvin before Art Monk? Michael was a helluva player, but should not have gone in before Art Monk.

I will take this rare opportunity to agree with you and Eric. Ray still holds the record for interceptions in a season at Southern Miss. And his 94? yf punt against Excuse me miss is still a NCAA record. Ray completly changed special teams in the NFL.

BEfore Ray came along, the person considered the greatest was another Southern Miss alum, Jerald Wilson.
