I'm trying to get a USB Network adapter to work on my computer. It's a belkin one and I've done the instructions but it still doesn't work. The light on the adapter is suppose to come on and it doesn't. The software is installed and I've done all the instructions.

Anybody have any experience or is there something you need to do from XP to turn on wireless internet. From what i've read it sounds like it just appears in the network connections. I have a NIC that I've been using with the computer so I've been online. I moved the computer upstairs and now need wireless.

We had bought the USB adapter when we went to Florida for the laptop. Couldn't get it to work but the laptop was windows 98. Seemed like a good idea at the time to keep it...maybe we should have just taken it back...

I'm no expert, but it seems to me that it should be getting some power from the USB port if it was working properly, at least. I thought that's what USB was all about... plug and play... seems like the computer would at least recognize that SOMETHING was plugged into it...

install all of the software..plug it in and reboot your computer....it should find the new hardware regardless of the software being installed. If not then the adapter is probably bad. They are very easy to break. I have had 4 in the past 2 years...:)
