Spring Break trips

I'm sad that I won't be going on a spring break trip this year, but I suppose that's what happens when you don't work for the university or the school district. *sigh*

The last two spring breaks have included trips to Savannah (where a friend lives) and Charleston (http://travel.nytimes.com/2007/03/11/travel/11hours.1.html?em&ex=1173589200&en=63b788a15f50030a&ei=5087%0A) (where another friend lives...had a fabulous night at SNOB). Last year's trip also included camping in South Carolina and some interesting excursions through swamps. I had a blast...even though I did thinking I was gonna be lost in the woods when I decided to take that impromptu hike.

If I had a spring break this year, I don't rightly know where I'd go. Maybe Tennessee.

Anyone have any good spring break stories?

We didn't have a spring break when I was growing up so I was clueless about the whole thing until I moved to NV in high school. I didn't go anywhere in college because I was too busy working. Once I started teaching, I usually went to visit my best friend in CO.

I kept thinking I'd go to spring training once I got down here, but my boys play in the cactus league, so eh.

I have some good thoughts, but no stories really. That's why I try to take pictures whenever I can :)

Unfortunately, if your hanging out with dudes, you don't ever remember the camera. So most of my experiences will be lost in the unorganized library of my brain.

i think every one of my spring break trips have been to the beach. i am a beach girl. and my family loves it as well. although, when i got to college i quickly realized that it was still a little cold to be on the beach in a swimsuit. i liked last year though - mid april is a good time for spring break. warm enough.

we usually go to florida or alabama beaches. now that i am on staff at the university, we don't get spring break :-( so i'll be soaking up the flourescent light in my little square office.

the best vacation i have ever been on was our cruise. it wasn't over spring break, but the best vacation by far. i hope that cbelt and his wife can find time to relax and find things to do that they enjoy. they usually seem to have something for everyone on the ships and in ports.

i agree with the sunscreen. just remember to RE-APPLY. you can't just put it on once and you're good for the day. i learned that the hard way in Cozumel. put it on that morning before our excursion - and got so burned on our snorkel. i should have re-applied before the water.

Being a pale fuzz, I'm pretty religious about the reapplication. I have also been known to ambush other unsuspecting folks with sunscreen, too. I used to not let children off the bus for field trips until I had seen them slather the stuff on. (it was what I used my PTA money for every year)

sb, I'm going to try, but this is the itenerary

day 1: work session from 9am-2pm
day 2: group team building excursion (Grand Turk)
day 3: beach olympics (have to run around, do dizzy bat, etc then answer questions about work, etc)(half moon kay)
day 4: Nassau... have to be back by 6pm to get ready for awards banquet
day 5: in port at 7pm...

I hope i can find time to get away from the work people for a few hours a day... kinda weird having your bosses boss, his boss and the boss above that on there with you... I'm afraid of getting fired...

well it looks like most of your nights are free - which is good on the ship. there are tons of shows and buffetts and great things to do. i loved going to the shows and the breakfast and dessert buffetts at midnight were great! so fantastic. I'm not too sure how fun your team building exericises will be - but you do have a free day in Nassau. then on your final day you have the entire day on the ship - with nothing to do with your work people!

i think you will be fine and i seriously doubt you will be fired. this is a reward - not a punishment!

I'm sure I'll find something to do, and I'm not planning on participating in the special olympics, as my wife has called them... I don't own a bathing suit and that's what they're asking us to wear, so we're just going to 'sleep' in on that day...

I plan to hit some people up for some free drinks and try to get wasted a few days, since I don't have to drive and don't have anything to do...

Last time, we had a really crappy ship and the food was really bad, but that was with Royal Caribbean, so maybe Carnival will be a bit better... we'll see...

Anyhow, I'm just glad I'm not paying for it...

The best spring break I ever had was last year... I had just gone through a break up and had a BLAST with Liz at her condo at the Tops'l resort in Destin... made a really good friend while I was there too- just one of those random things- we met each other in the elevator. We ended up hanging out throughout the summer when he could take time away from med school in Shreveport, but then just kinda lost touch... I really miss him though.

Put on some coconut scented suntan lotion, sprinkle some sand on the floor, put your beach towel in your chair, and you can pretend you are at the beach instead of in your office.

Don't forget your sunglasses. The fluorescent lights can be brutal. :)

i have creamy coconut scented lotion that i think i will wear. i will be in "normal" clothes all next week - no dressing up for me. and i might even invade Red at her place if the weather is SUPER for the pool one day. :smt038

we had to make a run back to the hotel for liz to change in to her suit for the interview. She just went upstairs for the interview just now- I'm waitin in the lobby for her... then we will definately enjoy our little spring break trip while we're here!! I wish we weren't having to come back tomorrow though... seems like a really cool city. Not so impressed with te IIT campus though.
