i've recieve a payment for a car that i have been trying to sell today for a bank that has merged with another bank.

Check was sent from IA, writer from FL, from a bank in FL

i ran the routing number on the check in google, and FDIC came back with an alert about some counterfeit Cashier's checks (http://www.fdic.gov/news/news/specialalert/2004/sa9404.html) but nothing about personal checks.

plus this one was printed either on laser or inkjet, can't really tell in the low light.

whom should i report this too?

Local police. Also, if the bank is real, call them too.

Did the people get the car yet or they won't since this is fake $$$$.

Wouldn't the fbi be involved if it crosses state lines or comes through mail or wire? fraud, right?

i don't know. i spoke to someone at an office when i googled "counterfeit checks" and he said local law inforcement can't/won't do anything?!?

they enter all the info which i'm going to scan to them in the AM into a database for law inforcement

You should contact the Law Enforcement Agency in the city in which the check was written.
