Did you do any grinding after you welded?:smt102 You were probably looking directly down at what you were welding also. Stand back just a bit and dont let the fumes come directly into your face. If alot of folks welded today, and you were in a pretty well enclosed area that could be where the "black stuff" or particles in the air came from. The area you weld in should be well ventilated "not windy as in with fans blowin' everywhere, but some sort of ventilation to pull the particles up and away from your work area. Hope this explains it.

Thanks for the tip! I will be sure to remember that. Yeah i grinded a little, but we dont most of the time because ther are a couple "bad apples" in the class who cant be trusted with a grinder.

Heheh, I was young once, I know what a grinder can do! I dont get out and do much shop work anymore I really enjoyed it until June rolled around, and then it was hell until bout' the end of October. Heat+Metal Building Over Your Head+Welding & Burning=10 gal. of Gatorade, Soaked Clothes, and the Scalds!!!!:( I still enjoyed it during this time to some extent anyways. Always like seeing something I built getting shipped out on a truck. Now I just get to draw it up and watch it get built, it's not quite the same.

One of the best welders we ever had is a woman.
I hated to see her quit.

Yeah, I used to help my dad around his shop. Now I just chill and help out my ag teacher. He lets me weld on big projects that we sell for $ for our FFA chapter... I like it... I am the 2nd best girl in our class...

Ha Ha... Well... We have done some stupid stuff! (I had NOTHING to do with this) We were coming home from our District Contest at Co-Lin and stopped at DQ for the traditional ice cream bought by our ag teacher. This was last year by the way. When some of our seniors walked to the convenience store next door and bought condoms. Well we were on the ride home when they blew them up like balloons! They let one fly out of the window and it landed on the truck behind us... (thank God it was just our ag teachers son following us back with the supply truck) Nobody got in trouble but it was a good laugh...

And maybe this is why teenage pregnancy happens... kids are blowing balloons out of condoms instead of using them? :smt105

goodmorning :)

lol, it means that I'm 24 and I still run in to guys all the time that are immature or taken :p Not always a bad thing... well, the immature part. Just depends on the degree of immaturity. A little playfulness is refreshing.
