I bought this wireless router around the time Hurricane Katrina hit. It has been sitting next to my computer forever- I tried to install it on an old computer- Had no clue what I was doing and gave up. Now I can't find the CD.

Is it impossible to set this thing up? I went to the website but I can't download a driver. I plugged everything in the back of it and then into the computer but it won't work. The lights are all on the front, but it will not load a web page. HELP!:smt022

So, you plug the computer into the router, then plug the router into the modem. Then turn the modem on, turn the router on, and finally restart your computer.

Ok the way I was setting it up was... a cable (ethernet) was plugged into the lan slot on the router and then plugged into the place where the ethernet cable that comes out of the modem was going. The one that comes out of the modem is plugged into the slot that is labled Internet- made sense to me- turned on the computer and it will not find the pages. I get the error- just as if I had no internet at all.

Did you turn off everything and turn it back on in order? You don't need any drivers for this router, but it may require setup and for that you need it's IP address. Most don't require setup for a simple plug-and-play setup.

the IP address is on the back of it- the default one anyway. I tried typing that in and it couldn't find it. I am going to do it all one more time and then I give up.

I have a friend that just did this with DSL. I'll ask him about it on Monday. If you type in that address and nothing comes up, then your computer is not even communicating with the router.

Thanks King- but I got a new phone (lost the old one) and don't have your number.

My friend who does my yard is also handy with the computer. He tried for 2 hours on Saturday. It just wont work. NOW my modem wont work. I am sure it was just a setting he changed during the install process, but I have to get this fixed today.

I have been advised to get a linksys router. Any suggestions on which one? Are they easy to set up? I need an idiot friendly one.

You want a Linksys WRT54G. It's pretty easy to setup.
