HAPPY St. Patricks Day everyone. Hope everyone has a good and lucky one. We will ne going to Southerns game, church at 4 and then St. Thomas' festival behind the church. Will I be seeing anyone else on here at the festival? It is open to all-not just catholics.

So will I and b/f. I will be wearing green, also. Will be going to Mass and then the festival.

Might better take a jacket if it is like tonight.

Lips, I am not Catholic and was raised Methodist. B/f Is Italian - Catholic. The Celtic Mass starts at 4 and afterwards in the back parking lots the festivities begin.

They have security and it is people of all denominations and ages there.

Everything is sold by tickets.

The food is good and in the past they have had Italian and Irish meals. Beverages are for sale--beer, cokes and diet cokes and tea of course. The desserts sell out quickly and are sold at the St.Joseph's table over by the back wall coming out of mass and all kinds of fund-raisers are inside. Interesting ,or it was last year. We take chairs and see people we see only then and other old friends as well.

The entertainment is Irish singers and dancers. aAlso, the Kaiso band with John Wooten. Some people dance and others just socialize and people watch.

I forget what time it ends. It's on the banner out front. I will wear jeans and a green top.

See you there.

so if I'm going to be at the baseball game, is it okay to go to mass in just jeans and whatever I wear for the game? I've only been to Catholic services a couple times and it was always on Sunday mornings... I don't want to be disrespectful by coming under-dressed. I'd like to come though, if I can talk my guy companion in to coming with me. It is okay for non-Catholics to come right? And just not participate in communion...

Lips,

You can wear jeans to mass. I'm sure I lot of people will be dressing casual. I used to when I lived in Hattiesburg and when I attended mass on Saturday. You should be OK. And you will have LOTS of fun. Us Catholics like to throw big parties (with lots of alchohol :) )

Yes, Lips it is appropriate to come to Mass dressed in what you wore to game. Sunday Morning Mass is more dress pants.

It is ok to sit and enjoy the service and message. Being Non-Catholic, I don't partake in communion but I may walk up to the priest and by a display of crossing my arms in an x with my hands on opposite shoulders and slightly bowing my head receive a blessing or just stay in my pew.

Everyone is very welcoming and nice.

I hope the EAGLES win.

Hey all, here is a good chance of finding me. I will have toe socks on with flip-flops. Yes, I do wear this attire to church too. I figure God doesn't care what you wear as long as you are there. I will be with a group of 7. Three men and 4 women. Please feel free to approach me and introduce yourself. Just look for my socks-black toes with a greenish flower on the big toe.lol I bet y'all think I am crazy.

Ya'll have fun! I went to my first St. Patrick's Day celebration at a Catholic church up here in Louisville. It was pretty fun! And yes, there was green beer :) I do miss Irish/Italian fest in Hattiesburg, though. That was the best!

I had a good time and the food was good. I bid on the mini helmet signed by Farve and got that in the silent auction and a couple other things. There was a great crowd.

The festival was great as usual. However, the limited space behind the church is starting to create problems. The people were really packed in, and the lines were way too long for children to handle. I hope they can find somewhere larger to have the festival in the future.

it looked very dead and very empty when we drove by at about 9:30 Saturday night. where did everyone go? thought it went until late? needless to say - we didn't stop.

We were still there and it was still going. They were probably dancing in front of the band. All of that was right behind the church and between the fellowhip hall---not seen from the road.

They were probably all in the cotton candy line or the funnel cake line behind us.

Had a great time........I worked the Coffee Booth from 7:00 til 9:00 p.m. non-stop pouring .......a lot of folks were drinking the coffee. The choices were Irish Coffee with irish whiskey and whipped cream or Italian coffee with ameretto and a scoop of chocolate ice cream.......I would have to say more probably ordered the Irish Coffee but it was a close tie with the Italian!!! When I walked out at 9:00, the last Band (the T-Birds) were cranking up...
