On a otherwise gloomy night for this Ole Miss sports fan, the Final Four game in the NIT tonight brought a smile to my face. In this second half, the Pups blow a 14 point lead and lose after a 3 point shot at the buzzer by the Mountaineers!! After the Valpo debacle nine years ago, which still gets replayed every single year in March, now Pup fans can know how it feels.

Hotty Toddy!

And also, all of us USM fans (alumni and adopted fans like myself) can take comfort in knowing USM remains the only school in Mississippi to win the NIT.

This from the fan whose team lost a couple of rounds ago and who's women lost by almost 50. LOL!! I'd be willing to bet the State basketball fans are far more happy tonight than the reb basketball fans.

Making the Elite Eight in the NCAA, as the Lady Rebels just did, is far more impressive to a program than the Final Four of the NIT. Furthermore, the seeding was ludicrous in the NIT, as Ole Miss had a better overall record than State, and played Florida as well as Arkansas (who whipped State) did in the SEC Tournament. Had Ole Miss gotten three home games, we'd been in Madison Square Garden tonight as well. In fact, I'd venture Clemson, which beat Ole Miss in the 2nd round, is going to win the whole (NIT) marbles.

SoMiss, neg repping me over just some good natured taunting, only shows who really doesn't have a sense of humor.

Typical UM fan. Would'a, could'a, should'a....
By the way, State narrowly lost to Clemson early in the season. I beleive they blew out UM.
Also, MSU was the #1 seed from the Western Division. Why would UM be ahead of them in seeding?
And just to remind you, MSU has a NCAA final four banner hanging in The Hump.
UM doesn't even support basketball. Just ask Rod Barnes. State owns them in basketball just like they own State in football.
All in all, the big three suck anyway........don't even know why I brought all this up...?????

Both Ole Miss and Misstake were 8-8 in the SEC and they split their head to head meetings, by similar margins. There was simply no basis to give State a No 1 seed and Ole Miss a number 4 -- I think both were off -- both probably deserved a 2 or 3.

The point is, home court advantage, is often decisive when two closely matched teams meet. Had State had to play on the road, I can almost guarantee they wouldn't have been playing tonight, just as if Ole Miss had played all home game, they would have been there (16-1 home record in 06-07).

Blah-blah-blah.

Webster, I'm sorry that UMO didn't get the seed you feel they deserved. That is, however, no excuse to be childish and take delight in other's failures.

Besides, it's never good politics to alienate a large number of constituents by having fun at their expense.

Had Ole Miss gotten three home games, we'd been in Madison Square Garden tonight as well.

If USM had won more regular season games, they'd have made it to the NCAA!

Blah-blah-blah.

Besides, it's never good politics to alienate a large number of constituents by having fun at their expense.

Now, I have the highest respect for Mississippi State University as an institution of higher learning, and anyone should know my post was all in good fun. Some of my best friends in law school went to MSU, and several even commented that I was the only "Ole Miss person" in law school they liked (Ole Miss alums actually made up the largest number of incoming first years at MC Law each year I was there).

And of course, if Ole Miss rallies and rallies and wins tonight in Pearl, my wife might even hear the word "'Buzzard". All in good fun.
