It seems in Hattiesburg 60% associate with organized crime.Seriously though, that is wonderful news Queen Mother, that is what has made this country so great. I have traveled all over the world and, despite my occasional disparagement, we really do live in THE finest nation in the world. Thanks.

Aaron, here's a thread for your new Religion Forum when it begins.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17879317/site/newsweek/

A new study reported by Newsweek Magazine says that 9 out of 10 Americans believe in God and over 60% associate themselves with an organized form of religion.

I just read in TIME magazine that only 40some percent of Americans can name all 4 gospels and even less know what the first book of the Bible is. How can you believe in something if you don't know anything about it? I do think that 90% is way too many. There have to be more agnostics and atheists unless they conducted this survey in front of a church on a Sunday morning after mass.

9 out of 10 people believng in God is impressive- but it doesn't really mean much.

James 2:19 says:
" You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder."

That is basically saying that even demons believe in God- but that doesn't mean that they love him or obey him. I think alot of people in America say- 'yeah- sure- I believe in God.' But there's nothing about their life that says: 'i believe in God and what his word says and model my life after it.'

Sometimes I wish our country was like other countries where it's not so accepted and popular to call yourself a christian. In some countries- you can be killed for claiming to follow Christ, so the people who claim to be followers are the real thing. They are willing to risk there life to be associated with Christ. Here in America- anyone can say they are a christian or believe in God, but not really live like they believe in him, and it's no big deal.
