I'm so glad that Ellie is doing good! It's really hard for me to read the threads about heart surgeries...my eldest grandster was born with a chd and had 3 surgeries to correct the problem plus one more due to a staff infection. He was airlifted to Cleveland, Ohio for his first surgery and had his other surgeries there also except for the one that involved the staff. He's almost 10 now and is really a great kid but will face more surgeries in the future to replace valves and conduits as he grows. He has an appointment in July with his cardiologist in Jackson and will most likely have to have another cath to see maybe how soon his next surgery might be. Our delimma now is that the surgeon that did his first surgeries has retired, so we must find a new surgeon....and there are not that many of them around that do that kind of surgery successfully. We are probably looking at Boston when it becomes necessary. I know it may be early to ask for prayers, but I know from experience how important prayers are "Big D" is really a great kid and he is my heart, so say a prayer or two...I know that when the time comes, we will really need some what I call "prayer horses".

Goodness Countrygirl, you just made me hug my kids hard and now they think their mother has lost her mind. BB's facing some heart issues right now and he has an appt. at UAB in May. After doing some extensive research on-line - you would not do wrong by taking him to the University of Maryland at Boston. I was REAL impressed with what they are doing with robotic heart by-basses. It was amazing. I'll add your little one to my permanent prayer list and offer up more for you and his dad for strength.

PLEASE hug your children every day! We trust Big D's cardiologist in Jackson and he says Boston...so that's probably where we will go. By the way, Amanda, maybe I don't read enough, but is BB a child or an adult? UAB has some good facilities, but you must be very careful if you are dealing with children...it's a whole different ballgame and the results are very differen with different hospitals and surgeons. Do your research carefully if you have the time. If BB is a child, pm me...

BB's my hubby. :-D My grandmother use to go to UAB when she had heart problems and I trust their facility when it comes to adults. But kiddies are a very different ballgame. Boston is definitely the BEST when it comes to kids. Had a friend in LA that's newborn was born with a severe heart defect. They didn't predict the child would live and life-flighted him to Boston. He is 7 months old now and doing wonderfully.

By the way, I am Big D's grandmother...but we still need prayers. He has an amazing pediatric cardioligist in Jackson that we really trust that guides us....and he says Boston.

Hug your kids and say a prayer of thanksgiving if they have pink feet......Babies with pink feet are such a blessing..it means they are heart healty. By the way, if BB is a child with a congenital heart defect, please pm me.

I knew you would be home in no time at all and doing good. You had so many prayers going out and up for you. Please take it easy and do as the DOC says (not Don). Your body will help you to know what and when to do some things. Listen to the body and the doc and you will be great. Welcome home my lady!

PLEASE send out prayers for fishing girl and her hubby. He has been having a couple of health issues and has today been put in the hospital. His heart rhythum (sp) is not where it is suppose to be and at some point today the doc will give his heart a "shock" to try and get it back in sync.

I been there, done that before with my hubby and I know what a mess she must be...please keep both in your thoughts and prayers for things to go well. I would never have made it though our ordeal had it not been for my friends prayers and support as well as the Good Lord looking over us! I will post more as I hear from F. Girl.

Just talked to Fishing Girl a few minutes ago...the procedure is over and so far he is doing fine. They will keep him until later tonite (6 or 7 p.m.) and as long as they don't have problems between now and then he can go home. The doc said he should be able to do his usual routine tomorrow. He got three shocks before the pace could be gotten to where they wanted it... He was sleeping and as soon as he wakes they will have him up walking and going to the bathroom...Thanks for the prayers!

I appreciate the prayers for Amanda, and ask that you keep them up throughout today. It's difficult to endure your baby girl undergoing surgery, whether she's a "baby girl" or a "full-growed woman".

My bright spot is that BB is here and will be with her tonight. The comfort that gives me is immeasureable.

Not meaning to take anything away from the prayers that are needed for our own members, but I have had a rough 24 hours - more scared for our granddaughter than for anyone! You see there was an airplane crash @ Columbus AFB yesterday around 12:30 noon and an instructor and student pilot died. My ex-son-in-law is an instructor pilot there. There is a 24 hour waiting period "for notification of next of kin" (which I am no longer considered), so I had to wait until the names of the deceased were released. I feel terrible for those (and their families) who lost their lifes, but at the same time am relieved it was not my granddaughters' father.

Just talked to Don. Elle is doing much better today...probably fixing to be released to go home. Don said that the last couple of days she had pain in her hips when she walked. Yesterday upon awakening she saw her leg was severly swollen up. Don took her to the ER and upon checking she was found to have a blood clot. Elle is now taking cumadin to thin the blood and will be put on total bed rest for a few days...only getting up to go to the bathroom. PLEASE keep both Hawk and Elle in your prayers...

My sister got out of surgery at 5:40 tonight. I am still not completely clear on what all they did to her but the scariest part was when they said she had a blood clot they couldn't pull out but had to explode it inside her. She is doing good and I hope they send her home tomorrow. I will find out more tomorrow when the shock of the blood clot wore off tonight I realized we don't know if he had to use one of her veins or if she has plastic like a stent. She was there at around 7 and got into surgery about 2:30. We were (I know I was) worn out at 7 tonight when they brought her into a room. Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts. I"d appreciate some prayers for BabyBro, who is on his way to the doctor with some kind of infection. He's generally very healthy and is dealing with this about as well as most men deal with being sick. In fact, let's include Mrs. Bro too. ;)
Thanks!
