Hi everyone...update dad is great. He said on the way home last Tuesday (from eye surgery) that was the best he could see in many years. He is to have the other eye done this Tuesday. Thanks for all the prayers. :smt023

Okay, just heard.........the airstrip was in the middle of mountains and as the plane was landing, it started swerving back and forth on the runway, sometimes severe. Since the scare from the last fly game, everyone on board went crazy. (One of the engines went out as they were landing at the last game) Everyone is safe at the hotel, now. Thanks for the prayers,
Scarlett

I think we all need to send up a bunch of prayers for Mike, A.K.A. Dollfus. He made mention of his "condition" in his thread. I know I will miss him being around a great deal.
Can't wait for you to get better and get back to MH, Mike.....

JoJo I must have missed Dollfus thread...which one are you referring to?
Prayers have been sent however...with that being said, I would like to request pray also.

We found out yesterday that my mother-n-law is not doing well...she is 91 and is in the late stages of alzeheimers...the nursing home called one of the brothers and said she could/would not eat and wanted permission to put in a feeding tube....at this point it doesn't look good and nothing can be done because the oldest boy is gypsy (litterly) and no one knows where to he** he is at....nor does any of us have his phone number! God what a mess! PLEASE keep us in your prayers to get through this without killing a couple of the brothers!

Guys, I have a girlfriend that's been trying to get out of an abusive marriage for months now, but she cannot afford to make it on her own. She's in bad shape right now and could really use all of the prayers that we could send up on her behalf....
Thanks so much.

There are shelters for abused women like your friend. She should contact DHS's Protection from Abuse people. She does NOT have to live that way, even though the abuser may have her believing that she does. That is the insidious, dangerous part of domestic abuse - the victim begins to believe that she "deserves" it, or is powerless to escape. If you are close enough to this woman, do her a favor and if SHE cannot bring herself to contact a social worker - YOU do it for her.

petalmom, your preacher is a very dear friend of mine, whom I have known for a long time... They are most defintiely in my thoughts and prayers... I did get an e-mail a while back from him telling me what was going on, but hadn't heard back from him in a while... Please let me know if there is anything that you know of that they need.... any service projects or anything that I can help them with, I would be more than happy to do... May the Lord bless and comfort them and may Nan have a quick and complete recovery.

Prayers going out to all.

Please pray for my grand-mother in law. Hubby told me a few minutes ago that she was admitted to the hospital again...this time because she fell in the bathroom yesterday. Nothing was broken (blessing in it self) just keeping her few days for observation due to her breathing. She turned 92 few months ago.

I will keep everyone posted as I find out.

Thanks Amanda, the pain and pancreatitis was being caused by an obstructed bile duct. The procedure they did this morning corrected this and then this afternoon they decided to remove her gall bladder so it wouldnt happen again. I got to bring her home tonight around 9:45, she's asleep in the recliner right now....thank you lortab!!

Even though this was a minor procedure I'd like to say thank you for all the thoughts and prayers shown by our friends here at MH.

cubby's mom is back in the hospital for the 3rd time since summer. she had a UTI that set off her MS again and she has a new lesion on her brain. currently she is sleeping all the time, can't/won't talk (only nods and shakes her head) and fought against having a feeding tube inserted. she DID eat some breakfast this morning, but that was the first she'd really eaten in a couple days. please keep her and us (the family) in your prayers.

The family of Michael (Drew) McCann needs our prayers. He accidently shot himself in the stomach this past Tuesday night.

The LE people on here would know his mom from HPD--Gloria Rawson.

Gloria told me that Drew & his wife Holly have no insurance..so they need all of our prayers. Drew works for a cable company and the guys he works with has agreed to donate 1 job a day to Drew.

Drew is in ICU at Wesley Medical. He will be there for at least 2 more weeks.

Gloria wants to thank everyone for their thoughts & prayers.

Some of you might have read about my grandfather being on hospice and has lung cancer. I have always been close to this set of grandparents. When I think about living in a world and him not in it just makes my heart ache so bad. I know God will comfort me and with his grace I will be fine but it still is hard to deal with.
My paw paws birthday is today and I have bought two cakes for him one is a choc dipped caked w/ choc dipped strawberries on top and the other a white cake with buttercream icing and fresh flower on top, both from the Pastry Garden. We are going over this afternoon to celebrate his birthday and in hopes to make some great memories. I have been really teary the last 24 hours and I hope that I can pull myself together and not loose it while in his presence. I am a strong woman but this is tearing me up. I can't even get throught typing this as I have just started to cry. Please pray that this is a good day and that we all will have a wonderful and blessed time.

Please pray for me Monday morning. I'm having a cardiac CT scan (in lieu of a heart catherterization) around 9:00 a.m. I opted for the CT scan instead of the heart cath because it is non-invasive. Please pray that the outcome will be good and that no heart cath or additional procedures (like a stent) will be needed at this time. Many thanks for all your prayers.

Good luck QM with the test..prayers are being sent...keep us posted!

I need prayers for myself please. My stints that were put in 71/2 months ago are screwed up. The one on the right side is completely closed and the left side is 3/4 closed. A doctor/radiologist called and said I only have about 2 weeks to have this surgery done. I was gone and the hubby talked to this guy and I don't know who he was. I am asking Dr. Hughes to call Dr. Hatten in the morning to have him look at the CT they done on me Friday. A Dr. Young did the first set of stints-I think something was done wrong or bad material used-I haven't quit smoking yet but I can't believe they have closed already. My sister and uncles all kept smoking and didn't have problems for after 10 years with their stints. That is why I want this other doctor-a second opinion won't hurt. The first doctor told me when he did them that would be the only option and since this didn't work-I am kinda scared, no other options? Please keep my family in your prayers. My sister too-she is having surgery next week for the same thing. Eight of my dads brothers all had this problem too. It is no doubt hereditary.

Test results from yesterday's Cardiac CT scan were not exactly what I wanted. Two of my four bypasses (from 2001) have blockages. Dr. Martin has scheduled a heart cath next Friday morning. My prayer is that he will be able to do ballooning/stints to open these back up. This will allow me to dodge repeat bypass surgery at this time.

My diet program is working beautifully. I've lost 20 lbs and repeat bloodwork yesterday shows tremendous improvement in cholesterol numbers!

Please pray that the blockages in the previous grafts may be opened during my cath next Friday.

I continue to pray for the requests mentioned here. God is so good and He hears the prayers of his children when they call on Him. It's amazing that He knows each of our requests before we even ask - but He delights in hearing from us. And, He reminds us that it's important that we lift each other up to Him in prayer! Many thanks to you all.

I'm "fixin" to pray - right now - without apology - to God that he will make you whole, full of joy, at peace, and free of pain and discomfort! PLEASE remind us before next Friday and tell us what time you'll be in the catherization.

Take care of YOU!

God IS good!

A lot of us either are traveling or have family and friends that are traveling this Thanksgiving holiday. Be it in the air or on the ground, I'd like to offer a prayer that they all make it safely where they are going and also a safe return home.

11-21-2007, 03:06 PM
Ditto JMB. I'd also like to remember those who won't be with their families. Many are overseas at war; some are ill and in hospitals; and others aren't close enough to be near families. We should also remember those who are less fortunate than ourselves. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of the holiday and fail to think of others.

God is so good and all our thanks should go to Him for all the blessings He gives us throughout the entire year!

Thanks, QM. Also prayers for those who are no longer with us.

OK all...We just got in about an hour ago from Starkville. Mamaw is doing better. She did have a heart attack about 3 weeks ago while in the hospital, but no one bothered tell the family.

MIL called and advised mamaw was sitting up in the chair, she had eaten supper, and was have a breathing treatment.

Hubby & I are so glad we made the trip today, but he was sad when we left...

I was also mistaken about her age she is 96 years old not 92.

Thanks to everyone for the prayers.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all this Thanksgiving morning... especially our militarty, law enforcement, firefighterrs and medical and emergency personnel who are out serving and protecting us and not with their families... Thank you! I am also thinking of those who are less fortunate, those who are in mourning and those who are suffering...

I also would like to ask for your prayers for my family, there is a lot going on with them right now. My Mom had to go the hospital a couple of days ago with heart problems and is struggling right now... I won't go into the details with the other things that are going on, but just ask for your prayers for us all...

Thank you for all of the love and support that all of you on this thread so freely offer...

May God bless and keep you all safe and well and may you all have a happy and peaceful Thanksgiving Day!

XC, prayers have been sent for both you and your sister. PLEASE quit smoking. When my hubby had his open heart surgery back in the 90's the doc said if he smoked again it could possibly be his last breath. He told us every time you take a puff off of a cigarette, it makes your heart and vessels contract and lowers the blood flow...which makes things worse when you already have a blockage. call me if you need me, I am here for ya! Keep us posted!

Maggie Doodle, Friday I smoked 4 cigarettes, today I have smoked 3/4 of 1. I am trying really hard-keep that in your prayers for me too. It is a BIG struggle. Bet I could give up food easier. I see Dr. Hatten tomorrow and will find out what I will need. I am going to ask him to do it Tuesday when he does my sisters surgery and give us a family discount. Yeah right. He'll have me classified as 10-92 and taken away.

I have a prayer request for my youngest daughter's mother-in-law. She has battled breast cancer since before my daughter married her son...almost 20 years ago. She is not doing well now. Tuesday before Thanksgiving, she let her little dog out before she took him to be boarded in order to meet us for the Thanksgiving vacation, the dog was attacked by two pit bulls under her carport. She tried to fight them off with a hoe and fell down, and it's only a wonder she was not attacked herself.....She is ok for now and it looks like her puppy will survive, but she really needs some prayers. Going downhill fast...She shares 2 beautiful twin grandsons with me that are almost two now and I would love for them to be able to remember her when they get older.

My sister had her surgery today-Dr. Hatten said it went as expected, it took 4 hours. She seems to be doing good but still needs prayers. I didn't get to see the Dr. yesterday, I go in the morning and he now has all my scans and blood work. My sisters incisions are VERY long and that is scary considering her surgery has been the norm for most of the family on my dads side. 7 of 11 sibling had the same problems. I got upset Monday because of the mix-up with my appointment and smoked 5 cigarettes yesterday. :ohnoes: I have smoked 4 today. I am doing pretty good and look to be smoking none by Thursday. Maybe tomorrow if he admits me to the hospital tomorrow :kekeke: :ohnoes:  Thanks for all your prayers they are not only needed but deeply appreciated.

I saw the doctor today and AFTER I go to the gyno to see what the two masses are in my uterus, (one on the right side and one on the left) we will discuss the by-pass surgery or if it can even be done. I will have been able to quit smoking for 3 weeks at that point (I have to do this, quit) and he will try to set the surgery up for the week before Christmas since my deductible and out of pocket expenses are already paid up. I cried my eyes out when he came back into the room and said he had some more bad news and told me the masses were found on the scan. I told him he was an arterial doctor and I wasn't there to hear about anything else-he had his nurse make me an appointment. I had a ct done in February of this year and no one spotted these masses then. Maybe Methodist isn't the hospital it once was-either they missed them or they grew since then. I will let y'all know what is going on after I see the Gyno next week. I may need a few of you to cry with me if the news is any worse than I have already gotten up to this point.

My husband fell in our playroom a couple of weeks ago and banged up his knee pretty bad. We found out today he is going to have to have surgery for a torn ACL. To add insult to injury he just started a new job so he will miss several weeks of work without pay. Keep him in your prayers. I have huge faith and am not worried about anything but I know how strong the power of prayer is!!!
