Thank you so much for all of your prayers. I know that is what brought me through. I asked meems not to say anything, but Wednesday night my blood pressure dropped to 40 over 10 and my oxegen had dropped so low that the doctor said if it had gone any lower I would not be here. I do not remember much about it but as soon as they stabilized me I was OK. When they told me what had happened, I said that there were so many prayers going up for me that that is what brought me back. I can't tell you all how much I love you all for being there for me. Now I still have a lot a recuperating to do as the surgery was quite extensive so I may not be online as much as I would like, but know that I am here for you guys too.
Welcome back, Betsy! Wow...that was a close call! I'll keep praying for you to have a swift recovery. :)

I would like to request prayer for the family of Ret. HPD police Capt. Richard Bufkin. He passed away late yesterday afternoon. His passing has left a big void in the hearts of law enforcement...he was a good man who was fair with everyone.

Capt. Bufkin was a very special person. He will truely be missed by all who knew him. My office was right across the hall from his at HPD. God be with his family during this very difficult time.:cry:

I did not have the pleasure of knowing him but his family is in my prayers. Such a loss when we need all the good law enforcement officers we can get. I know we have several good ones here who probably knew him and I will pray for them also.

Thanks Betsy. She is home, and she did rebreak the same arm, in the same place. She has an appointment Monday with a surgeon to set in a permanent cast. We'll see how it goes. I really hope they can get it set right so she can avoid surgery.

FIrst time I ever had to do this... my beloved friend of 14 years met his maker today.....A pet, none the less, but a soul mate that pet lovers can appreciate. My poor little kitty that had a tumor, I came home today and decided, I cannot see him suffer anymore. I am ok, just sad as hell!! And for all the folks who have ever had to make this decision I give you a BIG OLE HUG!!
Actually tomorrow, I know I will feel a great relief......thanks to all my friends who have helped with this... you know who you are!

Poor baby. To lose a pet is terrible. They can be just like a part of the family and the loss is undescribeable. The grief is just as real as if they were human. I will certainly keep you in my prayers and just know that he is not in pain now and you did the right thing.

Betsy, I am so happy that everything went well and that you are feeling better!
Sue, I hope your arm will heal quickly so you won't have to have the cast on for too long.
birthdaybunnie, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your pet. You are right. They are an important part of one's family.
Prayers going out to each and everyone one of you who need them. And here is a hug, too:

You have to know your baby is in Heaven and is pain free and looking down on you. Cherish the good times you had with your "baby" and know that you were loved by your furry friend. Love and prayers go out to you.

Please everyone pray for Ms. Elle, Hawkeye and family. They have had some tremendous obsticales of late and this is a major one to go through. Still waiting on word from Oldlady, or Maggie if you find out, as to when they will schedule the surgery. I don't imagine they will wait around and I sure don't think they'll let her go home till this is done.
Prayers to the family and may God give each of you strength. PLEASE let us know if there is ANYTHING we can do. I'm pretty good a waiting tables and bussing even.

From my experience, when daddy had his, it happened over a Wed night/Thur morn. They did not let him go home and scheduled his surgery for the following Monday morning so he never left. Hopefully, they'll do it Monday, if not sooner, and she'll be home by the end of the week.
Prayers and thoughts going out to Ms. Elle and family.

Elle and Don are two of the most genuine, salt-of-the-earth people God has given me the privilege of knowing. There are angels who pass through our lives, and certainly Elle must be among them.
I spent this morning on my knees, and I've since gone down to them again.
I'm comforted by this, and I pray that the Almighty will touch the hearts and fill the souls of all who love these special people:
"I will say of the Lord: He is my refuge and my fortress: My God; in him will I trust"
. . .
"For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. . . "
. . .
Ye shall call upon him - and HE will answer, ye shall be with him in time of trouble, and he will deliver and honor ye.
. . . "Because he has set his love upon ye,"
Sue
Prayer:
God, keep them under your shadow, deliver them, cover them with the feathers of your Almighty wings. Send your angels to bear them up and always, Thy Will be done.

Hello everyone,
I am posting here for prayer requests on behalf of my wife and myself. It seems her job has decide to quit her and not only that, accused her of taking money from them, which of course she did not. We were existing on a very limited amount of money and then this happened. It looks like we may end up out in the street before all is said and done.
I am disabled and awaiting a hearing with social security and this place where my wife worked was a big portion of our income $ 155.00 a week.
It paid the cable/electric bill and some of the groceries. Hopefully she will get another situation soon enough, but our rent didn't get paid this month because the place where she worked cohearsed her into paying them the $380.00 that they say was missing. They intimidated her with a police officer being present when they told her she had to pay it immediately or be arrested. She is so shaken up by the whole situation that she is trying to hire an attorney to polygraph her and insist on an investigation of the incident. Please pray for us to regain our integrity and dignity that has been robbed from us. God knows we have not done anything to deserve what is happening to us currently. I just ask that you all pray that justice will come from all of this and that we don't have to suffer no more than we already have. Thank you to all who say a prayer for me and wife!
God Bless you all.

I talked to Elle earlier this morning...she said she was feeling a little better than yesterday...she had to go this morning to get vein mapping done on her legs...that is so they will know which veins can be harvested for the surgery. Hawk had gone downstairs to get a bite of breakfast. She said he had calmed down a little bit from yesterday but of course he is still worried sick. Elle said she did ok last nite but complained about how uncomfortable the beds are... :) She is on a heart healthy diet. Will post more as I hear.

I spoke with Elle and Don today around lunchtime. Elle sounded good..much better than the last couple of days...Don sounded better too. Elle said the doc told her the veins in her legs look good for the surgery...No blocks in the neck. He said she appeared to be in very good health other than the blockages in her heart and that she was young and he didn't anticipate any problems with the surgery...at this point they are planning on taking her to surgery about 6-6:30 a.m. Tuesday...he told her she would hate him for a couple of months... :) Said she should be up and back to normal within about 5-6 weeks.
Ya'll keep those prayers going...we know pray works wonders! :smt023 I will post more when I hear more.

I just came from the hospital...I have sat with Don for a good part of the morning. Elle came thru surgery without any problems. She is now in ICU. They took her there about 2:15 or so.
When the doc came in to talk to everyone, he said everything went as planned...no problems at all. He used a couple of veins from her chest as well as the ones from her legs. There were 5 bypasses all together. He told us that she would be totally out of it until probably midnite. After that they will start cutting back on the meds so she will "wake up." He said at that point they will start asking her questions and get her to blink at them so they will know she is understanding them. At that point they will remove the breathing tube. She is already off of the heart/lung machine. THAT is a good thing in itself.
She MAY be in ICU two days but then will be moved to a regular room. Probably have her up by the weekend walking.
Don and Ande' are doing good so far...Don looks reallllly tired...which I am sure he is...you just can't sleep very well at the hospital...especially in chairs. He and Ande' were going to the ICU to see Elle' then they were going home for awhile. Ande' had stuff to get together for the restaurant and Don said he wanted to walk around in his garden and piddle a little bit to help relief the stress. He will go back about dark so he can do late visiting hours.
Don wanted me to tell each of you THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the prayers and good wishes. He said it means more than you will ever know. Thanks too to Honey who took a home-made pound cake to the waiting room this morning...it was delicious! Everyone was enjoying it! He said he will not be online (his site) until Elle goes home but asked me to continue to keep everyone informed. The prayers are working so keep them going... Elle had wonderful doctors both are good christian men...the Good Lord worked wonders thru them and Elle should be good as new in a few weeks.

I'm so glad to hear Hawk and Ande will be going home for a while. He needs to go home after the last ICU visiting tonight and sleep in his bed. No point in sitting in the ICU waiting room waiting. His health isn't very good either and he sure doesn't need to get down now. They still have a ways to go and he's got to be in good health to get her in good health.
Keep praying everyone - it works. Besides, you can't keep a good woman down for long. :)

Just came back from FGH...Elle is doing really well. As Old Lady said she is sitting up in a chair and will be walking shortly. She will stay in ICU until late this afternoon and then should be moved to a private room. Walking will be prescribed. It will be hard on her but that is part of the recovery. Of course she is on pain meds so hopefully that will dull the pain.
It is a miracle that the docs can open up someones chest and legs and do such procedures and the person be sitting up and walking in less than 24 hours from the surgery. I am sure she will be cussing for a day or two because it will hurt like hell to do the prescribed walks but each day will be better. I will post more as I hear.

Don said the doc would not be in this morning but the last time he was in he said IF Elle kept progressing like she is she "may" get to go home either Friday or Saturday...certainly by the first of the week.
Don said tell everyone THANKS for all the love and prayers that are being sent their way...lets all keep the love and prayers flowing for continued good health. We know it is working!

Wohoo!! Friday or Saturday!?!?! That's one tough cookie. I know she can't wait to get out of the hospital. No surprised by the appetite probs though - who likes Hospital food anyway? Yuck. She'll recover a WHOLE lot better once she can get to her own home and her own bed. With all the ins-and-outs in hospitals, it just isn't condusive to resting. Just about the time you close your eyes, somebody is flipping on a light to "check something". Thanks for the update Maggie-D!!

Please keep my daddy in your prayers. I had a call this morning and he's been involved in an accident. He's in x-ray right now and they plan on doing a CAT scan. When I first spoke with the man that called, (he's in Loxley AL) he said there didn't seem to be an broken bones; however, it cut his head up pretty good.
He was in a S-10 Chevy and from what I understand was hit by an 18-wheeler. He hit the windshield. I'm more than positive he wasn't wearing his seatbelt, he never does. He had 6 by-passes in August of '07 and while recuperating the dr told him to be careful driving as he couldn't wear a seat belt because of the surgery. He was never much of a seat belt wearer to begin with. Now he just thinks he can't wear it at all.
I did get to speak with him for a minute and he sounded thick tongued. I just hope there aren't any internal injuries that could be life threatening. He's all I have left.
I am supposed to be going on a trip this weekend, leaving for Jackson tonight. Guess I'll have to wait and see...

Proud, you are so right. God is good! Xrays and CAT scan came back good. Drs. were pleased but also add he is a very lucky man. Luck may have had something to do with it, but I say the Man upstairs is the reason.
I know my daddy knows Him, he just hasn't visited Him in awhile. I know they have daily conversations, at least at meal time, anyway.
But, still not knowing the whole story, the details are kinda sketchy, what I have been told, was that it was a head-on collision with a transporter and the impact flipped daddy several times. The truck is totalled, and daddy is banged up pretty good, head especially.
When they called me the 2nd time, he'd just come from xray and still had to clean and bandage him up. My stomach had settled down some, but I'm still alittle nervous.
I've asked for a shot of whiskey and xanax, but have gotten neither as of yet. :-)

I've just talked to my daddy. He's at home, had some lunch and is pretty sore. He was wearing his seat belt, left collarbone is swelled up, but at least he wasn't thrown from the vehicle.
The paramedic told him the only thing left of the truck is the seat where he was. He does remember what happened. The 18-wheeler was going too fast to stop for the red light. Daddy's light had changed and he was creeping along (cause there was another car in front of him). As he proceeded to turn the truck hit him. Had daddy been going any faster the truck would have caught him broadside and he would not have been here to share the story with any of us!
Now, I know everything is good, KC look out....Citygirl gonna be in da howse!!!

City girl, sorry to hear about your dad...THANK GOD he is ok. Prayers going up for the both of you. Just make sure you keep in touch and check on him...after my bad car wreck in 2002, they couldn't find anything at the time wrong with me either...yet I kept constant pain. I found out later my left knee was tore up as well as I had a couple of disc that were messed up. Like your dad though, at least I am here to talk about it.
Some old geezer hit me broadsided out in front of Wesley....I had a brand new car! Can we say "pissed?" I am still having problems with my knee and the disc but at least I am here to bitch about it....my doc told me the whiplash alone was enuf to cripple me for life. Good luck, if I can be of help, please let me know. Be careful on the trip and have a good time...you need the relaxation after all of this! :smt023

Top of the morning to all! Thank you community for your prayers. I am still here, however, I am separated from my wife for a little bit. We have been put out of our trailer, non-payment of the rent. I am in FL. now and she is staying with relatives until we can recover from the evil that has befallen us. With Gods help we will recooperate and get back together. I would be with her, but I do not sit well with her family peoples. They like me ok, I just don't feel comfortable around them. She would be here with me, but she has obligation to drive schoolbus, so she is hanging with it for the kids sake. God Bless her! God willing, justice shall be served to them that have created this scenario that put us in this bind. Again thanks for the prayers!

He said, "Yet not one [sparrow] will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father..." please know He is in control...

Prayers going up for you and your wife Mr. Poorman...hang in there...things WILL get better!
Has anyone heard from Hawk today? I was gonna call but I can't get a word out edgewise for coughing...I feel like crap.... I hate to get this mess...I cough so hard I get sick to my tummy! Cough syrup doesn't help. IF it isn't alot better by tomorrow I will be going back to the doc...I would have though the breathing treatment, the antibotics, the selestone shot and the inhalers would have helped by now....NOT!

Good news about Elle and City Girl's dad! Maggie, the problem with celestone is that it gets you better and then drops you like a rock and then you have a rebound (sometimes, at least with me) and end up worse. That said, hang in there -- maybe when the dratted lingustrum is done you'll feel better.
Remembering you all in my prayers . . .

Thanks for the prayers...PLEASE keep them going...I havn't slept 8 hours since Monday...I have just been misrable. I havn't been able to get the fever down past 99 so today I went over to Dr. Weible's clinic...I just could not breath...she gave me another breathing treatment, more antibotics and so predisone pills. She said my oxygen level was low...."well, I reckon so since I CAN'T breath in air!" Seems like I am coughing some of the crap out a little bit since the second breathing treatment. I am exhausted and sooo sore from coughing...
Hope all the other sick folks are doing better...I will keep you all in my prayers.
