I am one of ten that pay for a 1492 acre huntin lease, although we try and abide by the rules if we don't BAIT the deer, we would not have any. We tried the ethical way of planting, fertilizing and what have you but if someone with 10 acres decides to drop out 50 lbs a week in CORN right beside our 1492 then our work is pretty much nill. It has to stop or be legalized everywhere. I hate to think that our MDWFP officers and administration will go for the "feeding, baiting" of whitetail deer in our state. Our hunters or whatever you feel like calling them really don't care.
I try and do the right thing. Some however do not. If anyone wishes to post on this thread about ethical or unethical hunting please do so. I would love to hear your arguements.
Thanks

You should hunt for "points" it's ethical in the sportsman's idealology. Read up on it. Who wants to shoot a bambi, unless they just like the really tender meat???:smt118

Actually...I didn't say you did...I think I understand it pretty well...I don't like seeing dead animials hanging around when I go to restaurants, etc.

Yeah I know what's next...then don't go...someone please don't start lecturing me, because I'm not lecturing anyone else. I just don't believe it in...that's that. :)

I use corn. I'm not ashamed to say so. It should be legalized anyway.
I hunt in a club with 3000 acres and I also hunt on my 100 acres at the house. I kill the hell out of the doe population, kill one 6 point a year, then nothing smaller than an 8 point.
We killed one last year at the house 10 pt. 21 inch spread. Walked right up to the old corn.

Cool. I just wonder, what is killin' the hell out of the doe population? Is it 20 or 30? Man, those fawn factories are just dwindlin' down I guess.

The state told us to kill 30 this year. We'll likely be told to kill 60 next year.

Well, they screwed up this year, seems like ya'll should have killed 90 and you wouldn't have to worry about spending 6.00 a sack on all that corn.

We used our own corn. Grow it ourselves. We also have about 40 acres of soybeans to hunt over but the corn is like candy to the deer.
But, most of the big deer are not killed over corn. They're killed chasing the does who are eating the corn.

Chasing doe has always gotten me in trouble, too.

So, all your corn is free then? And you abide by the law and cut it down and dont redisperse it in piles or feeders. Or you break the law too?

Yep. But damn, I sure do miss it.

No, I pile it up. Put it in feeders too. Break the law? Hell yes. Just like 90% of the hunters in MS. It'll be legal this year though. Just get a permit.

No thanks. I think I will just be proud this year and be the 10% that says "I wasn't taught this way, think I will just stick to what my heart tells me". I just think it's better that way. In my 16 years of hunting I have only took 4 legal deer. I am proud of that.
