Oak Grove wins 5A South State baseball championship (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070509/SPORTS/70509027) over George County 10 - 5.

Purvis wins 3A South State baseball championship (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070509/NEWS01/70509028) over cross-county rival Sumrall 6 - 4.

Congratulations to these Lamar County teams as they advance to the state championship series next week at Trustmark Park in Jackson.

Kudos to Sumrall and Lumberton for their fine seasons. Lamar County had all four of its high schools in the baseball playoffs.

Congrats guys. Especially to the PHS underdogs. These guys have made South State 5 of the last 6 years and always lack media attention until the very end. Good luck winning state.

Absolutely true about Purvis. The Tornadoes are a great example of "it's not how you start, but how you finish, that counts." :)
