Sunday morning 4:45 a.m. the alarm goes off.......I got up and made a pot of coffee....tried to wake my fishin' partner, but he said he just couldn't wake up.:smt102Anyways, I walk outside and the wind was from the NE at about 5-10 mph, I am thinkin' beachfront all the way. I finally get the boat launched at about 5:15 and motor around to a place the locals call "City Pier Rubble", but the piling was gone and with no gps or fishfinder I would have wasted my time. So I peered over to Chevron Refinery and then I looked back to the NE from where I was and that's when I remembered the old rock jetty at the SRYC. I eased over to it, eased my trolling motor into the water, picked up my Calcutta, tied on a Catch 2000 and fired a cast up near the rocks. Two seconds later I watched my Catch 2000 get knocked 3 ft. into the air! It plumb scared me, had me all shook up. Its been awhile since I have had a good topwater bite. I missed about 4 or 5 fish before I ever even hooked up with one.....but when I regained my composure it was on. First fish in the boat was a solid 21 inch speckled trout. I caught 2 more on topwaters (missed at least a dozen fish:() and then the bite turned off...the sun had come up so I switched to a white cocahoe with a red tail and a red 1/4 oz. jig head. First cast I brought another big girl to the boat, 24 inches, that fish ranked in my top 10 for big trout. After about an hour I had boxed 2 more fish and released about 6 that were 13-3/4" long and the tide started running so hard that it muddied up the area I was fishin'.
So I then decide to try to catch a couple of flounder before I left. I motored over to the old City Pier and started jigging the pilings. I caught two small flounder for my effort and decided to call it a day. I had an awesome time "albeit by myself". I had the boat back on the trailor by 9:30 a.m. Here is a shot of my catch.

I like those short and productive fishing trips. Nothing better than getting bite after bite!

The unfortunate part of this trip is after I got them cleaned I started to think about everyone who asked that if I caught anything to bring them some fish....I am seriously thinking about headin' to the seafood place and buying some imposter fish and lying to them when I hand it over:). I did make one good trade though...traded 2 flounders for a mess of new potatoes (freshly dug Saturday by my uncle). I am thinking tomorrow night I will fire the grease back up, boil up the new taters', get the wife to whip up some of that white gravy to put em' in.I cooked 2 fillets last night along with the roe from the big trout. It was tasty!
My supposed to be fishin' partner Sunday decided he would go this morning. He called about 9 a.m. and he and another fella' brought back 15 this morning, before the wind started howling. Wish I coulda been there again!

I enjoy your fishing reports. That's a mighty fine sow in the foreground. You'd give ole' Phil Difatta a run for his money. Where is the SR yhat club?
Fresh fried ST filets hard to top. Yum yummmm!
It's on the East end of Beach Boulevard (Pascagoula) just as you go around the curve and start heading North. (Driving from West to East along the seawall/beach).

I think you had a better trip that I did. We headed down to Delecroix on Sat morning. Left home at 3:00 AM for the run. Only two of my three fishing buddies showed. The neep tide had things messed up down there.
We had fair luck boating a limit of nice reds (18-24") caught mostly on DOA's under popping corks. Also boated a few nice flounder (which may be my favorite table fair). Only caught two specks, released both.

It "was" good, I bought my baitshrimp at Bozo's seafood. I dont ever buy the frozen kind that are in the cups. Those were 40/50 count(fresh). I had enough left over to stuff the two flounder I caught and for what you see in the pic. I gotta do that again, and soon. You can have your Bait and eat it too.:)

I went to the La Marshes this weekend. Found a lot of birds diving and caught a bunch of trout. Most of which were under 12". Later I started fishing points and cuts and we cleaned about 45 fish. Like someone said the tide was not moving so I was very satisfied with our catch. Keep your poles in the water boys.
