Does anyone else find it odd that the only area on this site where comments are moderated prior to posting is in the public council discussion forum?

I'm not sure with the exact setup, but it kind of looks like maybe that allows the council members to have discussions in this same forum that aren't visible to the rest of us. That would explain why everything gets checked before it is publicly posted - the private discussions would be moderated out to only be viewable by council members, but then the other posts are public.
That's just speculation though, I'm much more used to dealing with phpBB.

I had attempted to comment on Tully's post in the council discussion group, but was told that my post would be reviewed by a moderator before it is posted.

They can't reply to Tully's post on behalf of the Council here (http://www.myhattiesburg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18855), so it's obviously part of some conspiracy.

basically, for the unedited, abridged version
WE WANT OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS TO QUIT BEING SO SECRETIVE AND LET US SPEAK TOO
and something else- but that needs to be in the boy meets girl thread

I read it and thank you for that. I follow it and wish them well. I voted for all them and will support them.
No big deal or not to me. They got the headaches and don't owe me an explanation as far as I am concerned. They have the headaches and I am a member.:smt022
I am sure they will experience both these emotions in their terms.

I kinda thought that the purpose of the council discussion forum was not for us to comment but for us to read their comments.

What is it that you want from them? You guys act like someone has got a freaking vendetta out for you or something. Unless I've totally missed it, things look like they've been running pretty smoothly.
Tully's post makes it sound like they just got themselves organized. Maybe it took a while, but if they didn't hash out how they were going to handle things now, then we'd all be griping about inconsistent behavior later on.
If you guys are that bugged by something, why don't you send a message directly to one of the council members or outline what your concerns are in a single post instead of making snarky remarks all over the freaking board and acting like everyone has it out for you?

All I did was ask if anyone found it odd that discussion is moderated for the public in the council discussion forum.

I didn't know that. If this is the case, where are we supposed to pose questions to the council as members of the fourth estate?
SoMissTV

Why not just post the same questions or comments you posted over there in this thread?
I may, but not in this thread. I'll create a thread where the fourth estate may ask for information from our council, but not until a council member or moderator tells us that we should not post in the council discussion group.

This was due to a problem with permissions on that forum. The posts are not put into a moderation que anymore, and will be posted as soon as you hit the button. I set up that forum very quickly before leaving. There will be some posts that will be closed and some will be open to discussion. I have petitioned the council to make as much as possible public though and discuss as much as possible with members of the site.
