Well folk's it was a pretty tough fishin' weekend for me. I was gonna pack along two guest with me, but one of them didn't show at the boat ramp.:smt102I guess he partied a little too hard, besides more room in the Whaler is a good thing.
Anyways, the wind forecast was supposed to be NNW, this was good because it would be calm at the little hole I caught those Sows in a few weeks back. Not today though! The wind was practically out of the West. Upon our arrival we were greeted by choppy and muddy water. Big time Bummer! Had to fish up close to the seawall and earn what we caught, my arms are still sore from the 2 million cast I made Saturday. On the morning run we managed 3 flounder 1 speck and 1 white trout. Nothing to brag about but all keepers.
After the Mother nature showed her ugly face about 1 p.m. we went in and got a nap. When I awoke it was cool temperatures and calm winds. I called another buddy of mine down there and he was all in (only for my mom to end the plan though). We took off for Bayou Cassotte (Chevron Refinery) and started jigging some deeper water. I caught 3 more flounder for my effort....that's when mom called and said supper was ready and I better motor my butt back to the castle. I was hesitant until I heard the menu!!
Stuffed flounder
Scallops
Mashed Tater's
Cheesy garlic bread
Sweet Tea
Salt and peppa' cucumbers....
Needless to say I packed it in and left!
Until Next Time

Boy she really knows how to get you out of the water huh!!!? I'll be glad when the winds decide to break. Seems like it's still March.

You ever try fishing over past the refinery, towards the Alabama line in that marsh?

They wind layed down Saturday night/Sunday (The day I left). I was gonna go early that mornin', but I was just outta gas...I had to go visit a couple of folks since I was down there. Gotta' keep in good graces with everyone. You coulda' went to Horn in a pirouge.

If you are talking about bayou Heron and the Bangs lake area then yes. I usually fish over there in the winter time. I have had some pretty good luck in a couple of holes over there. If you haven't ever been though you can get stuck really easily when the tide goes out (been there and done that!):smt118. I haven't fished over there in about 3 or 4 years though.

I fished in the La marsh all day sat and sunday. Caught about 20 trout. No tide, muddy water, hot, how many othe excuses can I come up with. We could have caught a lot of small fish under birds but wanted to try for a little better fish. We also got ravaged by a storm sat pm. Had to hunker down and hold on!
