Search Resumes For Missing Cruise Ship Passenger

(CBS4) MIAMI Crews have resumed their search for a missing Royal Caribbean cruise passenger Tuesday, one day after he was reported missing by his family.

According to a statement from Royal Caribbean Cruises, the 24-year-old man was last seen early Monday morning on a balcony in his room aboard the Freedom of the Seas.

The ship was sailing from Miami to San Juan. It has turned around to help in the search.

A spokesman for the US Coast Guard says crews searched by air for the man Monday afternoon, but later called off the efforts until Tuesday morning. LINK (http://cbs4.com/topstories/local_story_170080851.html)

I have, and I'll agree, if you fall over, your screwed. It's just not that easy to fall over though. There are railings that are 4-6ft high. You'd have to really be trying to get over that rail. I'd pull back on the sauce if I thoughts about doing that on a cruise ship in the middle of the ocean.

I have been on several cruises and love them!! Like they said, it's hard to fall off a cruise ship. It's not like the boat is tilting so much that you fall off. The rails are high, and they surround all of the edges. I just agree that there's no tax on the liquor, so some people take advantage of it. :(

I don't plan on going on a cruise. I had one booked for me and my boyfriend the December after KATRINA--the HURRICANE.

It was booked way ahead of time and I got a call from Sam', who I bought it through. My cruise boat was being donated for hurricane victims.

I needed a laugh then and got $$$$ back. I thought how nice that they donated it. I found out they were paid ver well by FEMA.

My sister has been on many and she said standing at the railing is not like LOVE BOAT. she said you almost get blown to pieces.

Drinks or alchohol around the pool are not included.

I am pretty sure food is.

If you go to a nightclub or drink liquor you pay for the alchohol. You can paut it on a tab. I am sure wine if it comes with your meal is covered.

Our most profound hope continues to be that this young man will be found and will be reunited with his family," said Royal Caribbean International President Adam Goldstein.

As a kid I would ride with my dad and his friend who was a captain on apilot boat. The boat would pull up next to large ships (cargo, tankers etc.) and a "pilot" would climb a ladder on the side of the ship to get on board.

My dad asked his friend why the pilot wasn't wearing a life vest. His friend told him it wouldn't really matter. If the pilot fell, he would be almost certainly be pulled under by the passing ship and drowned.

All of the food and most of the entertainment is paid for. The only extra stuff you have to pay for are the excursions and alcoholic drinks.

I don't like cruises. I don't get it at all. I like the water, I like being in the middle of the ocean, but I do not like the boats... it's just so campy...

That being said, the only things included on the cruise are food(only the food in the cafeteria and dining room, not the specialty restaurants or the specialty food areas, like coffee shops)... no soda or alcohol included. Now, on each cruise they have a captain's cocktail party where you can drink for free for an hour, but it's all watered down syrupy cheap vodka drinks... yuck.

I've been on two cruises, the first was the worst, on Royal Caribbean.. The second, on Carnival, was a bit better. I still won't pay for one, but if I get invited on the company cruise again this year, I'm going if it doesn't interfere with school... 3rd time's the charm...

Eyescene, I did read that list. Amazing, I skimmed over all the fatalities and read of 2 murders:

1. A mother murdered a baby.

2. A husbanc choked his newlywed wife of 7 days and she was tossed overboard. He had triangular gashes on her face from the pear shaped engagement diamond ring he gave her.

I saw on the side an assault, and also that government agencies are looking into the safety of the cruise industry.

I know a lot of people go on there and assume because you're all there for the same reasons, you are safe. Would be nice but still an opportunity for criminals and everyone's guard is down because of vacation mode and alchohol.

I also see on the list on the left hand side ::::::::

child abuses

thefts

sexual assaults--several by crew with a master key, one by a masseuse ( no, I am not kidding) wine stewards and quite a few staff. Also passengers.

Piracy on cruises.
