First it was pet food (http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/pet_food_recall_index.html), then toothpaste (http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2007/05/toothpaste.html), then toy trains (http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recalls04/2007/wooden_railway.html). Now it's tires.
A lawsuit blames cheap Chinese tires for a fatal traffic accident in Pennsylvania. The suit says tread separation caused a cargo van carrying four passengers to crash, killing two passengers and injuring the other two. The light truck tires were sold under the names Westlake, Telluride, Compass and YKS.

The case is reminiscent of the huge Firestone tire recall (http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news/firestone_capsule.html) of 2000, when faulty tires were blamed for a series of accidents and rollovers, many involving the Ford Explorer.

I don't know that I'd want to buy anything with the brand name YKS. Seems like you're asking for trouble if you do.

On a different note, maybe China is trying to conquer us by killing us off with cheap crappy products.

When you are going down the interstate at 75 or 80 miles an hour...think about how fast your tires are going and what kind of tire you want to be on the car? Do you want a cheap knock-off or do you want something tried and true ex. Michelin, Goodyear, Firestone

I get all of ya about the tires, but what's up with China are they secretly trying to get the USA. To me they are trying to do to us what the others did on 911, just doing it every soooooo quietly! I think the government really needs to watch China. Everyone today knows lead in paint is poisonous. So what does that tell ya!
