VENICE, Fla. – A man who lost his ball in a golf course pond nearly lost a limb when a nearly 11-foot alligator latched on to his arm and pulled him in the water, authorities said. Bruce Burger, 50, was trying to retrieve his ball Monday from a pond on the sixth hole at the Lake Venice Golf Club.

I'm afraid the alligator would have had me for lunch. I am sure my heart would have stopped when he grabbed me. Hooray for the man to beat the gator with his other hand. I would have freaked. I won't reach into a pond for a golf ball again.

I was just thinking the same thing XC9. I can't count how many times I have reached into water or a hazard to get my golf ball (cause that seems to be the first place it goes!). I will let the wildlife have it from now on, though. :ohnoes:
