I've been reading this silly little book about all the waste of our tax dollars. Do you realize we could fight the war and put money back for what our government throws at nonsense? It'll make you sick. We need to stop whining about the cost of the war and start raising the devil about them wasting our tax dollars to study the mating habits of house flies after a thunderstorm.

But these are earth shaking events that need to be understood. Also, it keeps professers in pencils & out of the classroom.:)

Anybody know what we spend on ex-presidents? $182,000 a year salary, $96,000 to pay office staff, free air travel, free housing, stamps, telephone and secret service protection. All this accordin to Andy Rooney in out of my mind. Why? Clinton made almost a million alone, in speaking fees plus millions for his book in one year.

I agree 100 percent with the idea that the government wastes too much money. Unfortunately, we citizens are as much to blame. We want our representatives to fund grants for special projects in our area - yet we consider special projects in other areas as pork. How many times have you heard local officials brag that some special project "was no cost to taxpayers" because it came from a federal grant? That IS tax money - just from a different source. We all pay federal taxes, too.
When we all get read to tighten our belts and do without pet projects that we actually could do without, then we can start to afford things that we all agree would be helpful to each and every one of us.
P.S.: Clinton made over $10 million in speeches last year.

Oh, and don't forget about the congressional set-asides that are automatically funded OUTSIDE the budget, with no debate or approval.

I don't douibt it. Like I said, I was quoting from a book by Andy Rooney that was written in Shrub's first term I think.

Don't get me started...my BP med hasn't had time to get into the stream. When one takes an honest look at pork spending, then they should really question why they say we can't afford top quality universal healthcare for all. The rich folks could still go spend on their super-specialists.
Our health system really is all about corporate profit. Firefighters and cops don't get to charge what the free market will bear. It's a public service thing, ya'know?
That's the whole idea: Get folks on here fired up enough to quit wishing for something and raise enough hell to make it happen just like the immigration bill.:smt023

If I had to pick between complaining about funding ketchup speed research, or funding a war that's un-winnable and is getting this countries young killed on a daily basis, which one do you think I'd choose?

That's not the point of the thread. If I had to pick between neutering my dog before he could reproduce, or neutering you, which one do you think I'd pick?

Nope. I'm wanting to post the government's silly waste of tax payer's money. The thread is: pork barrel spending by our federal government and it's agencies. The war is not pork barrel spending. You're high maintenance when it comes to 'splaining everything. And I don't dare talk slowly again. Just try to keep up or better still, put me on ignore.

Right. :smt023That's Off Topic here. The war is on other threads where we all got tired and bloody. Resurrect one of those and talk your head off.

I think we should all be thankful for your giving us the okay to do that. Standing 0 for ComputerDude:clap::clap::clap::clap:
Now, here's one of my favorites: The Treasury Postal Service spent $2.4 million for the construction of a parking lot that would provide 200 parking spaces for federal employees. There are only 18 federal employees at the facility.:smt022
