Here is the recipe for the one I make:
Slice tomatoes
purple onion x2 sliced
Italian cheese
Italian seasoning
Salt & Pepper
Pie Crust
Layer in pie crust - tomatoes, onion, sprinkle with seasons, liberally, then add cheese; repeat until very full. Bake at 350 until cheese melts.

Someone just told me the other day that she's had fried snickers and twinkies- no thank you! lol
I love tomatoes- I eat them like apples...I wonder what a tomato pie would taste like! :)

I tell you what fried twinkies are fine... jus like fried oreos... fried pickles... fried candy bars... fried chitterlings... I even ate a fried pig ear sandwich one time at the Dixie National cause all the other food vendors had closed down and it was late and I had been busy with my show animals and was hongry... guy said, "All i got left is two pig ear sandwiches, you want em?"
I said yeah cause I try most anything once. They were pretty good till I got to the end and then all that grease I ingested started rollin in the ol stomach.
Shoot that is one of the perks of the rodeos "Fried Twinkies" and "Buckle Bunnies" :-D There is even a book about it at BAM! It is about the rodeo life and I think the title is even something like Fried Twinkies and Buckle Bunnies and that is the truth if I ever told it.:)

I never ate a tomato pie....I'm gonna try this one. It looks simple and cheesy. Personally I don't like basil.
Thanks Amanda!

One of my own inventions is the deep fat fried beer battered Bacon Cheese burger. Now I am considering the bacon cheeseburger pie.

Let me suggest the following tomato pie recipe written by none other than the Queen of Southern Cooking herself - Ms. Paula Deen.
Thanks QM, I've printed that one out and aim to give a try real soon!
