The Mississippi Supreme Court has ruled against a woman who tried to use abortion as a way to cover up her husbands crime of incest against the couple's 13 year-old daughter. The woman tried to use the state's parental consent on abortion law as a defense in her case, but court's ruled otherwise.

In 2004, Charlotte Sherron was sentenced to three years in prison and two years of post-release supervision for trying go hide her husband's crime of statutory rape. She took her daughter to an abortion facility after her daughter became pregnant from the incest.

You're right Eye. What's wrong with her? Probably realized she needed "dad" for a meal ticket.

This kind of thing happens more often than you would think. My brother-in-law's uncle moved in with his mother about six months ago, and brought this 12 year old girl over who he said needed a place to stay. Turns out, he was raping her. Has it in his head that he's in love with her. The girl's parents are divorced-- the mother (who had custody) was aware, but the father was not, until recently. The mother allowed her 12 year old daughter to live with a 40 something year old man, who she knew was raping the girl, and this has been going on since she was 9!

My sister and bro in law found out about it, and called the police. Turns out they were looking for him. The father of the girl had caught wind of what was going on, and they were looking for this man. Thanks to my sister, they found out where the guy was staying and arrested him a couple weeks ago. The woman who was letting this go on in her house was just turning a blind eye because the man was giving her money. Nobody except the girl's father seemed to even understand what was happening to this girl.

Makes me wanna

So now the girl is pregnant at 13 and both her parents are in jail? I hope she is/was placed with a nice family member or a nice foster family.

That's just disgusting and sad :(

She's apparently trying to get pro-life advocates to rally around her by dressing her conviction up as another example why Abortion Is Bad. Funny, she sounds like she was okay with it when it might have disposed of evidence. Just sick.

It's not really clear whether she actually had the abortion or not. The article says she "tried" and that she "went to" the clinic, but probably for privacy reasons, doesn't say whether the procedure was actually performed or not.

The idea of being 13 and giving birth to your own father's baby is appalling, but then again so is the idea of your mother forcing you to abort it. I hope the poor girl is in better hands far away from these lousy excuses for parents.

That is a major challenge to abortionist.

Somewhere (Arizona i think) they challenged abortion Dr's under the same law that states a Dr. is required to report a crime (ie spouse abuse, child abuse, etc)

So, if a child comes into the abortionist office and is "with child," it stands to reason that at least statutory rape has occurred.

I think this Mississippi challenge is similar.
