CNN story and video (http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/meast/07/03/iraq.pilots.rescued/index.html#cnnSTCText)

Someone I know who is currently over there said that some bad stuff had gone down and that one the guys from his group had voluntarily given up his seat in a helicopter in order to get a badly injured soldier home after realizing the medivac choppers weren't going to get there fast enough. He couldn't give out many more details than that, but said that when they came, they'd be intense.

The full description came out today, along with pictures and video. "Intense" is an understatement.

I sure hope that my hubby doesn't have to go anywhere over there...

OMG! Sure makes you really thankful on this 4th of July! The Good Lord surely was watching over those two pilots. Our soldiers need to come home NOW! Those people over there have been fighting since God made this earth and they will be fighting when this old world comes to an end...our being there will not make one iota of difference in how those people live. They think nothing of killing others..nor do I think they ever will.

As I've mentioned before, I work in the mall. Today the place was packed with soldiers from Camp Shelby - at least six buses.

Some were Air Force MPs. Most were National Guard. A lot were from a Puerto Rican National Guard unit, including a husband and wife who deployed at the same time to be together, only to end up with separate assignments that won't allow them to see each other for six months.

I saw a couple of patches from my boyfriend's division. Those guys were in a different unit and were going back for their second tour. One of the others was on his third.

Business was very, very good... but it was still sad to see so many people away from their families on a holiday, tired enough of the hole that is Camp Shelby to be thrilled at a trip to the mall, and contemplating their upcoming trips to the sandbox.
