Hi everyone! I'm needing a part time job from about 6:00pm to 10:00 pm a few times a week or anytime on the weekends. I live in Hattiesburg so I'll need something around here. If anyone knows of anything, please let me know. Thanks!

That 6pm time is what's going to make you potentially unhireable in general. WalMart has a 4pm to 11pm shift that would work for you. I'm not sure what Target's hours are (although I should).

Yeah, I know the 6:00pm thing is gonna hinder me, but I currently work Mon-Fri 8:00-5:00 for my full time job. I also have to have time to pick up my husband and run him home since we share a vehicle. Thanks for any info though! :)

In my experience, usually only restaurant servers have those types of hours available to them. When I managed one back home almost my entire dinner crew consisted of ladies who had full-time day jobs.

When I worked a part-time job in addition to my 8-5, I worked for a dept store in the mall. I worked 6-9 weeknights and Saturday and Sunday hours were varied. The good thing was I knew I'd be outta there by 9:15-9:20 on Saturday nights and the earliest I'd have to go in on Sunday was 11:45.

You might want to check with Belk's, Dillard's, Penney's and Sears. Now Books-a-Million might work out for you, they just stay open later.

dream1,

Don't you have a job with "flexible" hours for a good-timin' girl? Or would that be stepping on your toes?

What can I say!! :smt118 I quit that job!

But a good part time job could be in retail...check the mall and different stores around the city.

Thanks, Citygirl. I thought the mall might be out of the question since it closes at 9:00 (6:00-9:00=only 3 hour shift), but since you've actually done a shift like that at the mall, I'll give it a shot. All they can say is no.

Retail is pretty much open to anything...they love giving out short shifts like that- people who work the full day want to get out of there quick and they can never find closers...a shift that has you closing in retail is almost a sure fire job! :)

The thing at the mall is that your shift doesn't end when the mall closes. I am usually scheduled to stay until at least 9:30 if not 10 in order to clean up and to get things ready for the next morning. Some nights it is even later if displays need to be changed. It also depends on how the store you work at operates - some places only require the manager to stay later and others might expect a new employee to stick around that late.

The only problem is that the smaller stores may have already hired all the workers they need for the back to school season. I know Victoria's Secret did have applications out front and were actively looking for people as of this weekend though.
