Originally comin' from Mr. Cleveland of the Clarion.
I see confrontations come early mornin' when a turkey hunter get's a hold of one of them "rigged-out" coon dogs.
I ain't much on coon huntin' or turkey huntin' for that matter. Some folks though are die-hards for the sport of it. Lots of stuff goin' on rat now in the Wildlife Sector. Them folks in Jackson (MDWFP) are gettin' alot of room to regulate now. Don't know what to think about all that.

As the new regulations were outlined in the article, I can't see much of anything wrong with it. Afterall, it's always been against the law to hunt Turkeys on the roost.

I remember we use to have run-ins with the fox hunters when I was fox trapping. Sometimes to got pretty heated and dangerous. The thing is, there's enough game and enough room to go around for everyone if they use common sense. Fox hunters could hunt year round and we only trapped for the 3 coldest months. We ended up appeasing them by giving them a live fox every now and then to chase.

The biggest problem I see happening in the wildlife/hunting arena is fewer hunters and over-populated species, especially deer. About 3-4 years ago, the deer herd out at Camp Shelby got so huge, there was a problem with inter-breeding and wasting disease. To save the deal, the Game and Fish folks came in (in the summer months) and killed around 100 deer to thin the herd. Then, they shipped in some new White Tail bucks from north MS to reentergize the bloodline.
And if you remember back 3 or 4 years there was a game warden that busted some tails on a regular basis back then. Many a ticket was wrote after dark down there! I didn't know bout' the kill off. Thanks for tellin' me.

Yeah, and he never caught me :kekeke:

I heard so many people say that awhile back there wasn't anything bein' done bout folks illegally huntin' down there. A couple of new guys came in and started bustin' tails. They are gone now, but there is a couple of good uns' that took their place.
