I'm going to Gulf Shores next weekend with the entire Stratton clan.....I've been there many times, but just wanted to see if I had missed anything that some of you may have experienced.....Any suggestions of places to eat, drink, golf, etc....?

Eat at the Shrimp Basket (http://www.shrimpbasket.com/) near the intersection of 59 and Beach Blvd (about one block north on the west side of the highway). Wonderful fried shrimp and on certain days of the week, all the fried grouper you can eat.

I know it is a popular place, but I was not impressed with Zeke's in Orange Beach. The prices were a bit high for the quality, IMO.

Also, if you have never been to the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, you should go. It is a short drive from Gulf Shores/Orange Beach and it is easy to find. It has every kind of aircraft the Navy has ever had and some space-related stuff, too. My son and I rode the simulator where you feel like you are flying with the Blue Angels. Fun stuff.:)
The Blue Angels are preforming on Pensacola Beach next weekend. They will also be there on wed. You can look up the times on the web.

Lulu's (http://www.lulusathomeport.com/main/index.php) is owned by Jimmy Buffett's sister and is on the north end of the intercoastal waterway right at the base of the bridge. Great atmosphere and food. Very kid friendly as well.
I know it is a popular place, but I was not impressed with Zeke's in Orange Beach. The prices were a bit high for the quality, IMO.
I always love going to Zeke's when someone else is buying. :-D Haven't been there in quite some time though.
You might also try the Original Oyster House. They have one on the causeway near the USS Alabama at Mobile and one in Gulf Shores.
If you have kids you might want to spend a day at Waterville USA (http://watervilleusa.com). Still one of our favorite water parks.

Yeah I learned that the hard way-- I offered to take my sister and brother in law to lunch there a couple years ago. We had about 2 drinks each, and a modest meal. The total was well over $100.
This is above and beyond the typical vacation stuff, but my dad is a huge fan of old airplanes and we were down there on Father's Day, so we bought him and my mom a 30 minute ride in a biplane. The operate out of Jack Edwards Airport in Orange Beach. Check it out! (http://www.866mustfly.com/)

The Peninsula is far and away my favorite golf course in the area. I have several friends who swear by Kiva Dunes, but on a windy day (it is always windy there) it just ain't no fun.
As far as food, the Gulf Shores Steamer has great steamed Royal Reds.
Hope you have a good trip!

BTJ!!! I'm just glad you're still alive! I've been worried about you!
Thanks for the tip on the golf....Me and the bro-in-law and maybe Gus will almost definitely play a round Saturday mornin'.....Golf is always a good excuse to get away from the women!
Good to hear from you!

You old romantic...Mrs. Elle told me that's the place where the two of you met. Then a romantic sailboat wedding, which she can't remember cause you got her drunk and all. Yeehaww, I've always loved the Pink Pony, and now I know why.:smt118:laugh:

I always hit the Lousianna Lagnaippe and The Original Point Restaurant. I like listening to the band, Bubba and Them. The Orginal Point Rest. is casual and kind of off the beaten path. Love it.
I also love to go listen to the music at the Flora-Bama. You've got to spend an afternoon doing that! That's were I learned my signature song, "My Baby is a Seafood Platter".:smt118

Last time I was down that way, the pink pony was closed. But that was the year after Ivan.
If your looking for late night stuff, The Keg is a lot of fun. Don't know how to get there, best bet is call a cab. $10 they'll get you there safe. Live Bait also has some great bands that play. Check out the velcro pigmies if they are playing. Great 80's hair band covers.

We always visit different restaurants and places when going to Gulf Shores, but two things that are a part of every trip are Lambert's and Pirate's Cove mini golf.
If you're tired of spending lots of money and want a good meal for a good price, the Crab Trap is a good place. It's near the Flora Bama line-- in the FL side. What highway is that? 182?
