Bryan Ault of Alexandria, Va., believes the fees are too steep, so the 28-year-old software tester started an online petition (http://petitiononline.com/va3202/petition.html) in an attempt to get them repealed. Ault plans to send the petition to his state representatives.
Nearly 12,000 people had signed the petition by Thursday morning.
Certain driving-related felonies and misdemeanors can now cost you $250 to $1,000, paid in three installments. And the fees are in addition to steep existing fines and, in some cases, jail time and driver's license suspensions.
You can even get fined for not using proper signals when changing lanes or not using brakes properly.
It looks like people are really mad about the traffic fines that have went into effect. I posted about this last month about Virginia putting this into effect. My question would be, why do people wait till after it's went into effect to start complaining? Second question, how much for a tag light being out?
