I saw this & immediately thought of NoHalo......Hmmmmmmm
DALLAS — A police officer on duty was shot by a woman with his own Taser during a visit to the officer's home, police said.

Hmmmmm-- He was on duty, and just happened to run home to pee, and "a woman he knows" just happened to stop by, and his taser just happened to be setting out while he was in the bathroom, she pulled the trigger on the taser gun because he startled her??
:bs:
Sounds like Officer Dumbass stopped at the house for an on-the-clock quickie.

afternoon delight... quite shocking if i do say so myself...
Knowing what being tazed feels like, I can only imagine what it felt like to have a prong hit your chin. As far as the " letting a friend in ", we all know what was up.

When I was tased I said I couldn't think of many things that would be worse. Well, being tased in the face and then having to admit to OPR it happened while you were at home for an on duty quickie is one of those things I classify as "worse." I wonder if he was dressed or if he fell and did the flop naked? Great visual image there huh?

Can you explain how a tazer works? Where is the power source? Is it a dart that sticks into the skin. Is it attached to wires or something? What's the voltage?

Can you imagine getting tazed while naked and trying to get a uniform back on with it dangling from your chin? All before the paramedics arrived?
I love love love to watch the show COPS, and they occasionally zap someone on there. It looks so painful, but it'll sure stop a runner.

Maybe I'll lt you take a gander at the video one day.....

The taser has an internal power source and can be used in one of two ways. The first and worst way is to be shot with the leads. This pretty much means that two cables (anywhere from 15 to 25 feet I think) with barbed hooks on the end shoot out at around 180 fps and pierce the skin. The charge then jumps between the two leads. The second way is a "drive stun." This is when no cartridge is used but the two contacts on the end of the device are touched to you similar to the old "stun guns." The reason they are so bad is that they not only funstion on pain complaince but the charge is focused in a way that it mimics the type charge nerves transmit to stimulate muscles. This means it doesn't matter if the pain doesn't bother you, all your muscles flex and you go stiff as a board and fall. The initial lockout charge is 50k volts for a second and then it drops to 1500 for 4 more seconds. Another jolt can be applied be a second pres of the trigger and so on. Trust me on this, a taser will shut you down. Period, no debate. It's not like the old stun guns or pepper spray that you fight through. You get hit and you drop. End of game, don't pass go.

That reminds me of an old story for a department in the north end of the state. An older support services officer had been sleeping with a, uhhh hmmm, kinda heavy-set female meter maid. The female had a degenaritive hip condition and walked with a bad limp so everyone knew her. One night the officer, who was a 9-5 office guy, took the meter maid out for a "ride-a-long.":smt118 Well, one thing lead to another and the two of them were in the back of his taurus going at it and the meter maid's hip slung out of socket. It was so painful that nothing could be done and the officer had to call an ambulance to transport her. Needless to say, there wasn't much he could do to explain how the girl ended up in the back of his car with no pants and a dislocated hip. Even though he retired, he still catches hell about this.
I'm more interested in hearing how you and Igid got tazed.:clap:I had to get tazed in order to carry one. We have a training lead that has a heavier wire and alligator clips on the end of it and one lead was clipped to my shirt at my shoulder and the other clip was clipped to my pants pocket on the opposite side. Yes, it hurts. Thomas A. Swifts Electric Rifle (TASER) aint no joke.

I love all that stuff on Court TV at night. Have you seen some of those dudes that get tazed and it has no effect? The must be on pcp or something.
And, of course, the do-gooders are trying to get tazers banned because some dude died of a heart attack when tazed. 1, He shouldn't have resisted. 2. One dies, but how many would have gotten shot by the cops if they didn't have tazers? Saves lives of both nabees and nabers.

I don't understand why you guys have to get sprayed with pepper spray and tazed in order to carry the weapon. Do you have to get hit with the collapsable baton, too? What about shot?

You don't have to get shot with a taser to be certified actually. The taser company certification is a classroom course followed by a couple of times shooting a taser at a target. Getting shot with one like I did or getting hooked up to the alligator clips is a department policy issue. My agency deems that if you carry one, you know how they feel. Even though I hated getting tased, it really gave me an appreciation for how effective they are and also tempered the criteria I have set in my mind on when I use it. I think an officer that has never been tased but carries one is much more likely to use it when it isn't absolutely necessary.
As far as getting hit with batons, when I got certified with the side-handled PR-24 and the Asp, I was black and blue for weeks. If I got tased as many times as I was hit with a batton, I'd look alot like microwaved bacon now. Why we aren't shot with our duty weapon is self-explanatory, I think. :-D

When the Xboy got certified with the PR-24 and the Asp, *I* was black and blue for weeks.
I think those conversations went something like...
Xboy: Hey fuzz, you'll never guess what we learned today! Here, let me try this on you. I promise it won't hurt!
Fuzz: Ummm...that's what you said last time.
Xboy: No it'll be different this time. I promise. I'm not going to hurt you. Don't you trust me, babe?
Fuzz: Can't you call Bassey or Price or Way.....owwwwwww! You're hurting me!
Xboy: Hmmmmm...guess that was a little much, huh?
Fuzz: :smt022:smt022
Xboy: I'm going to have to make this up to you, aren't I?
Fuzz: :smt022:smt022

I have been sprayed with Freeze+P and also Tased out of the 2 I will choose the Taser anyday. The spray will hurt for serveral hours :smt022but once the taser is over it is over.
I think it is a good idea if you carry either you should have to see what it feels like.

Tazers were in the developmental stage when I worked the streets... we heard about them but they were not used...not around here anyway. I have however been sprayed and also got hit with both the pr24 and the asp. I didn't relish either one but if I had to have one or the other...I would rather be hit than sprayed. My eyes, nose and throat burned for days!
