I have a pair of tan ones. They were a gift from my mother.

I was really, really skeptical. They aren't exactly the prettiest shoe ever. Now I admit that for working around the yard and quick runs to the store, they're great.

The best use I have found so far was when I took mine to Florida and wore them around the theme parks (Disney even sells Crocs with mouse ear ventilation holes). They stay fluffy soft on the bottom of your feet, the ventilation keeps your feet from getting sweaty, and after a water ride or rains shower, they dry out in a matter of minutes. At the end of the day my feet and legs felt fine when usually I'm exhausted from all the walking.

You won't catch me dead in the bright pink Croc rain boots my sister has, but I like the neutral-colored pair I have.

Hell NO! No man in his right mind would wear crocs! Why? Because any man worth his weight is a working man, now, what kinda serious work can a man do wearing crocs? NONE. You can't effectively dig a ditch with crocs on, you need BOOTS. You can't be welding steel with crocs on, you need BOOTS. You shouldn't ride a bull with crocs on, you need BOOTS. You shouldn't run a marathon in crocs, you need BOO..I mean, running shoes. And you can't twirl your woman around the dance floor with crocs on, you need a NICE pair of cowboy boots for that. I like boots, and running shoes. Crocs are a croc of s***. That's my opinion, and it's free.

I have worked in professions all my life that keep me on my feet constantly. I used to come home at nights with my feet aching and would wake up with leg cramps. I started wearing these about a year ago and I can assure you that it is much easier than it's ever been before on my feet, legs and back. I have 2 pair of regular style and 1 pair of flipflops. They may look weird but I love them.

The only drawback that I have seen with them is the width- I have a narrow foot and it took a while getting used to wearing a wider shoe but I have been told that they supposedly have a new, more narrow style which I will be checking into.

I, like you, go with the more natural colors, light brown, navy, black.

Hey man, I was nice to you today. Don't go making me take it back. While they may not be appropriate for some occassions for the work I do they are great. They are not, repeat are not a croc of s***.:smt118

All I'm saying is, John Wayne didn't wear croc's, he wore boots! The Green Berets don't wear no croc's, they wear boots! Patton didn't wear crocs, he wore boots! Superman didn't wear crocs, he wore boots! Cowboys don't wear crocs, they wear boots! Oilfield workers don't wear crocs, they wear boots! The Crocodile Hunter didn't wear croc's, he caught them, while wearing boots!

Which is why I have a pair of combat boots.

You just won't catch me wearing them to Disney World :P

I should make my mom try them (and me too.) We both have trouble with our feet. One trip to Lowe's or Sam's and we're done for. She usually wears SAS, but those get reallll $$$.

I don't know if you read the Slate article I attached to this thread, but it mentions that George W. Bush paired Crocs with shorts and dark socks.

Getting a visual here... :-D

I think they're ugly, and when I first saw them I was horrified and swore I'd never. But everyone rants and raves about how comfy they are. My feet hurt like a mofo when I'm at work, because I have to be dressed somewhat like a professional but I have to stand up all day. I'm thinking about getting a pair to put in my classroom, and when my feet get really achey just switching into those, then putting back on my regular shoes before I leave the room.

That was pretty much me. At least now they are making styles that are a bit more attractive.

mac...last year when I went back into the classroom, I had a broken toe, which ruled out wearing most of my shoes. I searched and searched and searched, and finally found a pair of Clarks from their Artisan collection. (Sorta like these (http://www.clarkscanada.com/product/Detail.aspx?prodId=20678&Level1=F&scroll=540&page=1&Level2=9), but not quite)

I was skeptical, but they're extremely comfortable. I could stand all day and not have problems with my feet or legs. I still wear them all the time. Have wore them while traipsing around places like Bellingrath Gardens or New Orleans and no problems.

I have the flip flops and like them a lot. They are great to wear to the pool. My kids have the traditional style and flops. They LOVE them. It is a battle to get them in other shoes when it starts getting cool out.

Crocs may be ugly as home made sin but boy are they comfy! I really don't care what they look like if they can keep my feet, legs, hips and back from hurting.

Since I was in the car wreck back in 2002 I have had alot of problems with pain in my legs and hips...wearing the crocs have helped tremendously! Even the knee where I had knee surgery doesn't hurt as bad if I walk or stand alot when I have the crocs on. I now have two pair...I will be buying more so I can have extra's to change out.

I have the regular style and the flip-flops and would knock someone in the head if they tried to take either pair. Yep, they be ugly - but they are SOOOO comfortable. I'll take comfort over looks any day of the week. :)

Those CROCS are UGLY no doubt, but if they help relieve foot pain by all means go for it! I'm certain NO ONE is wearing them because they think CROCS are on the cutting edge of fashion.

I am sad to say I lost one of my pink ones in the wreck. They were in the trunk and I guess one flew out (possibly while on the wrecker). But I still have my bright orange, gold and camo ones, I wear regularly.....

I have (had) a favorite pair of black ones that I wore everywhere but church. I have somehow lost them and even tho my husband calls me Imuelda Marcos (He thinks I have a lot of shoes) I really miss those ugly things.

all 4 in my family wear them
I wear them mostly in the yard they are a great wash and wear shoe.
My two year old loves to wear his and play in mud puddles, and that is fine again I can just rinse them off and and they are as good as new.
We all have the khaki colored ones. I am thinking on purchasing the croc flip flop.

Crocs are in the news...

How would they be any more dangerous on an escalator than a pair of plain flipflops?

They aren't. But they're new and we need something to be afraid of.

The brand name 'Crocs' are by far the most comfortable, light weight, and long wearing casual footwear I have ever owned. I have several pair and find that walking and standing on hard surfaces is tolerable much longer wearing these 'shoes' over any thing else I've ever tried. The downside is they offer zero protection to the feet of the wearer ( the rock from my weedeater through one of the toe holes hurt for days ). I've talked with a local mom also whose 13 year old lost a toe to a lawnmower wearing a pair (small wonder.... hmmm).

I guess if you don't pay attention on an escalator where your feet are, it might not matter what you are wearing on your feet............ moving equipment hurts if you let it catch you.......................

Yeah I've worn Crocs primarily for two years when I'm not at my paying job. They help my feet and knees. They are great on the deck of a boat for 8 hours. The only drawback to them is you HAVE to wear socks, because the plastic let's your feet sweat more. I just picked up a pair of Sperry Topsiders that I've been sporting around lately. And as far as Real men wearing crocs, just call me Alice! I like em.

Maggie-Doodle

jmb, I am like you, I would think flip-flops would be more likely to get caught in an escalator than crocks...
first off, your toes are bare and secondly the bottoms are thinner and more likely to run up under the mechanics than crocs because of the toe covering and the thicker soles. I have several pair of crocs and love them...my knees and hip doesn't hurt near as bad when I wear them as compared to when I wear regular shoes.

when the crocs first came out i hated them.. then the day before we went to disney world i bought a black pair.. I wore them everyday all day in every park with zero discomfort. If it was a ride that got a little crazy i just flipped the rear strap down behind my ankle and kept on goin. As of today i noticed i've worn all the tread off the bottom of them and will probably have to replace them.

as for bpitt's boots comment earlier in the thread - Boots are not always neccessary for everything, i wear boots and running shoes all the time doing yardwork and manual labor, however i have no problem wearing them to class where i have to walk 5 miles uphill in the snow both ways to get to class. They're nice ridin a 4wheeler too b/c the mud just rinses off.

i love my crocs. i get a lot of foot pain when i wear flip flops to school cause i walk all over campus. no such pain with my crocs. my mom on the other hand, can't wear 'em. she has diabetic neuropathy and the little knobbys in the bottom of the shoes feel like needles stickin' in her feet. she likes them with socks though.
