Im looking to sell two cars, but I have a question on how to retitle one. I will start of with my question. I just bought a car from a friend of mine having a tough time paying his rent. The problem is we don't really know the proper steps to retitle a car. Does anyone know how to retitle a car from a private seller. (the title currently in my possession has the person who sold it to him on the front and the sign over to him on the back. there isn't any other room for him to resign it to me)

Now with the question out of the way.
The first car I have for sale is a 93 honda del sol si. It is a two seater convertable. It has 133k miles on it and is in perfect running condition. The reason Im selling it is because I have a newer 97 honda del sol, its alot less flashy and im getting to old to drive a car like this. It would be a perfect first car for a highschooler. Tons of extras around (10k$) on the car so hopefully they wont make the same mistake i did putting way to much money into a car. It has a full body kit. Air ride suspension. A fully custom sound system with 2 12' subs.
http://a418.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/00825/71/48/825588417_l.jpgIt has a fresh paint job around a year and a half old, and 17in rims w/ 80% tread left on the tires. The car blue books for around 3k. I am hoping for 6k but I am realistic and willing to negotiate especially if its going to a good home.

The second car I have for sale is a 95 honda prelude s. It has seen better days the car needs alot of work. (new brakes, fuel pump, gauge cluster, and paint) the car has 230k miles on it and blue books for 3k in good condition. Its far from that, Its a good fixer upper for a first car aswell. I now it needs lots of work so Im willing to take that into consideration. Im just looking for an offer on this car. I will edit this post with a picture and more details when I get the car retitled (see question above)

Thank you all

the title has to be sent in, especially if both the previous owner and your friend already signed it. let him go do that, and use ur address so that when it comes back from the state you have the origional in your hand.

make sure he takes it, maybe with you. he will have to pay the sales taxes on that car when he goes.

then when the title comes back in his name, he signs it and then you sign it, send it off to the state, and you will have a title in your name.

have fun- and i hope you have a bill of sale on that vehicle from when he bought it or else you are going to be up shits creek

I sold my 87 accord 4door, 5 speed, with COLD A/C and a working 10-cd changer for $500. I still occasionally miss the Sweet Potato. I don't miss the fact that she had 230,000 miles on her when I sold her, but she was a great little car.

The SP was still going too (I see her tooling around town now and again)...but with as much driving as I was doing, I was nervous about another cross-country trip in her.

be careful here fellas

if youre not respectful to whoever this is thread...'referee' might send you a PM telling you not to make fun of whoever the OP is

im pretty sure referee and the OP are buddies...that would be the only thing that explains it.

I'm just trying to get a little money back out of it. Tough to selling something with all your high school years of blood and sweat. I don't expect a miracle but the car only has 133k miles on it. If you don't want to make and offer in the ballpark of 5-6 thats fine. I'm not in need of money bad enough to sell it for bluebook value.

if i had 4000, i'd make that offer. it'd be worth it. my Gertie is going on 16 years here in a matter of days. i know what hondas are like. and my next car will be a new one. sorry carsalesguy....you and cousin Bob won't get my business on that one...... :-( good luck sellin this one though! hope she finds a good home!
