Left for Cat early friday morning. Went into South Bayou and fished for some specks as soon as we arrived. Specks were few but the weather wasn't to bad that morning. Around 5:00p.m. the wind kicked up to about 50mph(no kidding)!!! A thunderboomer blew in and really churned things up around us. The poor tent was laying down . I couldn't believe it but not one rain drop or bolt of lighting came from that cloud...just wind. Anyway the weather cleared up after dark and everything was beautiful. Moon was full and the winds were calm. Me and the old man went out to our secret spot and decided to fish for some bullreds. After being there for a while the old man hooked up with one which was 35+ pounds. I also caught a nice blacktip. After around 4hrs sleep I told the old man that I wanted to hook up with one of this bullreds also, so we went to another favorite spot and I ended up catching one which was also 35+ pounds. Another blacktip was caught also and we decided to take it in for the day. Now I'm pretty worn out from the trip, but it was worth it. Two bullreds and some memories with my dad are always nice. I can't believe how much Katrina changed things out there. There are so many new sandbars so if you guys head out there be careful. Don't want to loose your prop on a sandbar!!!!:smt118

Enjoy reading your adventures.

What is a Bullred and speckled? Any mosquitoes? And did you fish in the daylight or dark?

Glad you had a good time with your dad and are safe.

Get some rest and keep those fish tales comin'.:clap::clap:

A "Speck" is short for Speckled Seatrout.
A "Bullred" is a very large Redfish.

The mosquitoes were bad but the dang yellow flies were even worse!!!!

I'm glad he had a good time too and brought some fish home. Blackened redfish is my favorite dish he makes. Poor baby, he's exhausted now and has already crashed after eating his Popeye's dinner. :) haha!

Well the mosquitoes and yellow flies would do it for me. I'd have to stay in the air conditioned tent and watch TV, until the wind picked up to blow them away. MACHOMAN!!

Nice fish, glad you got some, last time I went out there a few weeks ago we didn't catch anything but something that looked like an oversized angelfish that were schooling around the boat.

Thanks. Yes we did have fun. I must say that the night we spent out there was one of the best i've ever had. Not much wind, a big bright moon and big fish to boot!!!
