As I was coming home from the Coast today about 2:00 p.m. the temp....was 106. :smt103 That is hot.
I went shopping at Edgewater Mall...J. C. Penneys, it was so hot in the dressing room, it was horrible. People were sweating all over the clothes.
I got what I needed and headed home to the A/C.
My babbies (4-dogs) was so happy to see me drive in the drive...they know that they will be in the A/C in just a few more minutes. :smt118
Please drink lots of liquid...take care of yourselves...and watch out for the elder in your neighborhood, who may not have A/C.
If we know that there are elderly folks in the area that do not have an A/C that would be good for a share. Things can be done.

Freeze some little bottles of water, and carry them around with you.
Go to a motorcycle shop or dealership and ask them for the neck gel pack. Stick it in the freezer for a little while and it kinda wraps across the back of your neck like a bandana, you don't have to tie it. Stays cool for a long long time.
You will be amazed.

I walked from McLemore Hall (where the new traffic office is at USM, the building behind the little lake) over to the LAB at about 11. I walked sedately, stopped in the shade a few times, and even carried a cold diet coke which I drank as I went, and still had a headache and felt faint-ish by the time I got to my car. Sure hope this breaks by next week!!

Speaking of hot asphalt, I just read where a section of Highway 18 outside of Jackson buckled over the weekend from the heat. Makes you wonder what kind of damage this heat wave will do if it sustains much longer.

I had to do some work outside yesterday & I nearly passed out.
I've had to tell clients that we won't do outside installs until the temp gets back to 90. We will however try to do some things in the early morning.
I'm just not risking getting anybody sick.
