The last update that WDAM's "breaking news" election news did, at 1:59:29, CT, shows with 132 of 134 precincts reporting, 99% of the vote counted, with Hal Kittrell is/was holding a 943 vote advantage, at 52-48 percent.
Does anyone in zee authority happen to know where - which - two precincts are still out in this race (and others, I'm certain), with 99 percent of the vote IN ?
If this were Louisiana, I'd say, wahl, dah lection' man dun gotto run his traps fust, den he'll row dem ballots on ov'r to da Oyster Shucking pier, but . .
Anyone?

Ahh. Dat `splains thins. I feel more and more at home in the Pine Belt each day. I always knew that the New Orleans Machine wasn't the only one operatin' in the political arena. Howevah. If 99 percent of the votes are IN, and if we knew the voter turnout for the counties in question - VI-OH-LAH. We could maybe figure out where these 49, 109 people vote and maybe, just maybe, learn that the catfish ate them (the ballots, that is).

You could have written Nagin in.

No. Given my option, I'd write him off.

Well, then, tell me this:
Do local political candidates facing certain defeat do things like make concession speeches/announcements/releases to the Media, or do they just let sleeping dogs lie?
Depends on how high level the race / election is.

Depends on how high level the race / election is.
And whether or not the local press give a tinker's damn about their concession speeches/releases?
But you're saying that in a Not So High Level (beneath Road Commissioner, maybe) race, a losing candidate may simply go quietly into that good night? The winner shows up at the office, and that's the end of that?
Sounds pretty straight-forward, actually.
A lot of times that is exactly the way it works.

And so, a toast to Hal Kittrell:
May you keep the wind at your back or beneath your wings,
and may you always keep justice in the bough of your equitable heart . .

Congratulations to our District Attorney. I supported him in his re-election campaign. Now, it is time to ratch it up a notch. The performance of our DA's office is mediocre at best.

If you want to describe the either the 12th or 15th district's performance as "mediocre at best," it is very apparent you don't have much exposure to other districts in the state. We are blessed with outstanding DA's offices on both sides of Hattiesburg and that's coming from someone that has worked with numerous offices all over the state.
The 15th may have issues in one county in particular, but you need to look at the jury pools seated in that county and what the citizens are willing to tolerate to find the root of that trouble.

Well, pirate, you sound a little biased. Are you? I base my comments on my experience with other districts, and further, facts...like this fact: What is the number of cases that have gone to trial this year in the 15th?
