View Full Version : Thinking about miracles . . .

I've been watching the coverage of the mine collapse. Several family members of the trapped miners have made comments like "It's in God's hands now" or "We're praying for a miracle." I certainly think that prayer is critical at a time of crisis, but when I hear statements like that, I often wonder - how do the people feel afterwards if the event turns out for the worst? If you pray for a miracle, and it doesn't come - then what?

In the case of a mine collapse, pray, but do it while your diggin'.

Acceptance. I don't pray for miracles because I don't want to set myself up for disappointment in the God of my understanding. Rather, I prefer "Thy Will, not mine, be done," and then spend many many hours, my last waking moments, praying for the faith to mean what I'm praying.
