Does anybody know of or has anybody ever caught any good size bass in PBJ?
I have fished it only a few times and have caught alot of small bass (good fillet size) but never any big bass over say 7lbs.
Anybody got any tips or locations on PBJ to catch some ole'bucketmouths? Let me know.

This time of year, I have had some success in the upper (north) end of the lake early in the morning. The bass will school for an hour or so each morning before the sun gets high and the water skiers arrive. Try to find the creek channel that winds through the north end.

I catch most of my bigger fish by throwing a large shad-patterned crankbait under the schooling fish. The bigger bass hang out under the smaller schooling fish and pick off wounded shad. Occasionally you will hook a big catfish under the schooling bass (that is always a thrill!). As for the size of PBJ bass, I have personally seen (but not caught) two that weighed over ten pounds, and caught several 5 - 8 pounders. Good luck!

I can't catch sh!t at PBJ. Maybe some bream that are just big enough to get snagged on a hook, but nothing else. Maybe I need a boat or something...

Well, I fished a tournament last spring and caught 1 little bass about 3 pounds. Not sure what to do. I thought I was the expert, but don't know.

Well i have tried everything from drop shottin to finesse fishing out there with everything in my tackleboxes and have not caught the big ones yet.
i guess the lake has so much pressure on it they are just hard to find.
gonna keep tryin though never gonna give up.
I will still stick with my BIGG BASS lake that i fish all the time.
thanks for the help yall.:)

There's supposed to be a deep channel that runs from the shallow area of the lake out into the ski area. It's supposed to have trees dropped in the channel. I tried to find the dang channel and couldn't. Maybe someone told me a Fish-Bait story about that one!!:smt118

There are no Fish at Geiger. Don't waste your time. You all go ski and stuff and leave ALL the fishin' to me. j/k

The biggest one I have ever caught out there was prolly just under 4 lbs., but I am not a lake fisherman. I would rather fish the rivers and creeks. I am better at catchin' em' in movin' water than in lakes. I dunno, just somethin' I prefer.

yeh the channel pretty much runs from the back bridge kinda on a zigzag pattern and i have caught some nice fish there but not really any big ones. next time you go out there try the new shaky head worm on a 1/8 ounce football jighead with a watermelon finesse worm you will enjoy that on light line. There is a deep drop off right off the primitive camp ground area that i fished with this setup and caught probably 20 or more 1lb to 3.5lb fish. Try this area it is fun.But i want the big ones.

do they still have that sundown fishing tournament at PBJ? That looks like alot of fun.

I tried finding the big ones with a stick of dynamite onetime out there. The park rangers weren't thrilled, to say the least. So I switched to an ol' telephone box, they weren't happy with that either. So finally, I just dragged an old shrimp net down the middle of the lake, that one really pissed them off.
Anyway, now I use that uppity, fancy smancy stuff like plastic worms, Rat-l-traps, hula poppers, and even some buzz-baits. It works alright, but not as good as the aforementioned methods.

selmore they still have those tournaments out there every once in a while but i aint the tournament fishing type. I like to go fishing to relax and get away from it all.
I dont care if i catch anything just as long as i am on the water.

Just letting everyone know that i have fished PBJ for the last 3 evenings until about 45 minutes after dark and haven't caught but maybe 10 small ones and only 1 that went over 5 pounds.
So my suggestion is not to waste your time there unless you are skiing

It'll prolly pick up when it cools off some. There are some pictures of some nice fish up in the office/gameroom thing, or at least there was last year. There are some big channel cats in that lake also.
