If the election were held today, for whom would you likely support: Tim Hill or John "No Halo" Klem? Forrest County District 2 voters only please.
Hint: A vote for Tim Hill means you get trolled! (Just Kidding)

Since I like in his district and know he will be doing a fine job, Klem will be having my vote on August 28th.

Heck, I don't even live in Mississippi. But I sure wish I could vote for him!
I voted before I read the thread, but I have to work with him so it's ok.

Don't worry, I'm sure if we get much larger here, we'll be recognized by the county and need a constable ourselves.

Can we offer the two people who obviously checked the wrong box the opportunity to correct themselves before they get publicly flogged?

Like my sig says, if Klem is not on your ballot, just write his name in somewhere. Anywhere. Don't like either candidate for Supervisor? Write in Klem. Don't like either candidate for Coroner? Write in Klem. Write it in the margins. Write it on the polling booth walls. Sign his name instead of yours when you register. It doesn't matter, just let everyone know that you're for Klem.

I don't live in Petal but IF I did, John Klem would be getting my vote! As far as I am concerned HE is the ONLY candidate on the ballot! I have however urged my 4 cousins and my aunt to vote KLEM! :) Good luck John, I am saying a prayer for you!

If it ever comes up again, do what I do and ask them to submit their questions to you through email, and you will return them a response as soon as possible.

From today's (Sunday) Hattiesburg American: (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070826/NEWS01/708260314/1002)
In the runoff for a Republican nominee in the Forrest County District 2 constable election, Tim Hill and John Klem meet Tuesday. The winner faces Democrat Gerald Watts in November.
"I'm nervous," Klem said. "This is my first time to run for anything and I never realized just how intense it could be. I'm ready for Tuesday to get here."
Klem said he hoped voters looked at his 21 years in law enforcement as a determining factor and saw this election as an opportunity to "be able to fulfill my law enforcement career."
Klem's opponent said he hoped voters understand how important it is to get out cast a ballot.
"The main thing I want them to know is that if they don't vote then they shouldn't complain," Hill said. "If the voters come back, I feel good. People need to be more interested and participate in local politics."

All I can say is I think I have been in the "wrong" business! IF used car businesses make enuf $$ to support the kind of ads, signs etc. that Tim Hill has out for this campaign and they still make enuf to eat regular meals I think I better start me up a second rate car sales business too! I could really live high on the hog.
I am like noway, I don't think signs wins anyone the election...I certainly don't pay attention to them. The only good thing IMO it does is keep the candidates name out in the public eye.

The signs might not win an election, but it doesn't hurt to have your name out around town. Also, the folks who put the signs in their yards probably feel obligated to get out and vote for you since they don't want to wind up with a "loser's" sign in their yard.
In this particular race, if signs voted it would not even be close. I have seen way more red and white signs with "Klem" on them than the other candidate on the ballot. I take that as encouraging. Everyone just remember to go vote!
And, No-Halo, you did a great job in that interview. Take it from an ex-reporter. I couldn't have made you sound that good unless you were already darn close! :smt023

Thanks for the vote of confidence PI, I actually believe my opponent has more signs out than I do but at least 95% of mine are in yards or on private property. The few that I put on right of ways have either been taken or damaged but it's not just mine that disappear I've noticed. Somebody must have a collection going somewhere.
Thanks for the comment about the article.
