#6 at my precinct this morning. It's only a Democratic run-off where I am. Some poor woman came in and said, "Oh no. I'm a REPUBLICAN. I'm here to vote in the REPUBLICAN run-off." She didn't seem to understand that there wasn't one for our precinct.

I don't know if there's a GOP runoff in my precinct. So I guess I'll show up anyway.
Why isn't the runoff ballot on the HA online? I ask, because, last I checked, politics is the stuff of news.

I'll second that imaginary vote for KLEM. I hate that he is not running in my district he will make a great constable. Although I wouldn't want him to decorate my home. Aren't those the god awful ugliest politician signs you have ever seen:smt001:smt001

I voted on my way to work. I like voting the process of having them look up my name & confirm that I am indeed a citizen & registered voter, or at least that I claim to be since they aren't legally allowed to look at my ID even if I offer it to them. Anyway, the place was EMPTY I was the only one there to vote. Alone. Solamente. By my self. I hope some folks get off their fat Mississippi a$$es & vote. So if you haven't take a few minutes of your lunch and go commit a blatant act of citizenship.
Unless of course you're a liberal or uninformed or stupid (sorry, redundant) in that case I heard they held up democratic vote until tomorrow so they can get a better turn out. So, never mind & go have cheeseburger po-boy.

It looked slow but steady at Thames about 9:30, though there are lots of older people in this district and they tend to be conscientious about voting. Only one race on the Republican ballot, Davis vs. Bowen. It'll be interesting.

I have voted and Bee Line did too. When the lady found our name of the register we were the only two on that page that voted in the last election..which is sad! Today I think we were number 15 & 16 that voted in our precinct....and people wonder WHY things are going to hell in a handbasket in this country! IMO IF you don't vote, you should not have a say in what goes on! AND you get what you deserve if it is not right!

At least do something wrong so I can serve papers to you and make some money that way. Thank you very much for your support. The end."

That really makes alot of sense.. so hopefully I will get some results shortly

WTF died and made the Republicans and Democrats gods?
They are not federally sanctioned.
They are not federally owned.
They are not federally accepted entities.
How do I know this? The goverment does not pay them, foot their benefits and does not list them in any such capacity.
So, why can't I vote for who I choose at any time as long as I can only vote for a person that is on a ballot?

I'm surprised...but not shocked. In this runoff the turnout fell considerably from the first election, and lower turnouts tend to favor older candidates, as the turnout that does show tends to be older. I surprised some people by predicting Byrd would make the runoff simply because he was the one older candidate in race to begin with and tonight Byrd further benefitted.

The District 104 race is down to a 13 vote margin in favor of Byrd, with 32 absentee votes in Lamar County waiting to be counted. They are going to wait until the morning!
I will say this for Chad King, he ran a classy race and refused to engage in rumor-mongering as did some of his opponents. He also was running against 3 opponents in the run-off. The two who lost in the primary were all out in force working against him for the past three weeks.
If the votes don't break his way in the morning, he still has a bright future at only 24.

At the risk of sounding like sour grapes, let me say that if the Pine Belt needed a "dynasty" legislator, Chad King was the one needed. He indeed ran an excellent campaign and is well versed on the issues. Tom and Susan King should certainly be proud, as should all of those who supported him.
I have no doubt Chad King will be back.

I've noticed WDAM hasn't bothered to call Jeff Davis County to get the results tonight. Of particular interest is the sheriff's race where incumbent Henry McCullum was facing a runoff challenge. McCullum presides over a county that has a murder rate per capita higher than the City of Jackson and where drugs appears to be out of control.
The HA reported him leading but with incomplete returns. On a night in which several incumbent sheriffs have lost or are losing, it looks like the worst sheriff in the area might remain in office. :(
