Racial tensions in major cities, from what I understand, are higher than they are in smaller communities. It seems to me, that most of us are wired to believe that nothing is our fault, therefore it must be somebody else’s fault. It's always easier to blame somebody of a different ethnicity of being the root of your problem, but rarely ever correct.<O:p
<O:p
It seems to me that the media wants racial divides, because that promotes victims, and victims sell news stories. The truth of the matter is it is usually boiled down to the haves and have nots, but the media picks good stereotypes to shoot on the camera to play up racial differences.<O:p</O:p
<O:p
It was a tragic event what occurred in the City that Care Forgot.....but the residents forgot to care about what protected them and chose to spend money designated for levees for other projects. That is a risky proposition when you live in a city that you know is below sea level and is continually sinking. <O:p</O:p

New Orleans sprawled out into areas that they knew were not suitable for building. Then, when the inevitable occurs they look for a group to place the blame. I know many have moved up here to the pine belt to keep from being caught in the situation again. They have moved on rather than gone back to play the blame game and I can't fault them for that at all.<O:p</O:p
<O:p</O:p

I applaud the way the Pine Belt handled themselves after the storm. It separates the places where you have Neighbors or People that live in your area. The outpouring of support that took place was great here…..”Oh you need some power? Here we’ll run and extension cord to your place from my generator.” “A tree’s blocking your driveway? I have a chainsaw.” “You didn’t store enough food? Come on over, our freezer is thawing and we’re cooking big on the grill tonight” The pine belt helped each other out, like the good neighbors we are.<O:p</O:p

Outsiders also overlook the fact that there are three races in New Orleans, not two. There is a substantial creole middle-class that's always served as a buffer between black and white. These folks tend to be well-educated, more affluent, very protective of their French heritage, and Catholic. My son had a creole friend once whose parents wouldn't let her date a certain boy because he was "too black." Most of the recent mayors of New Orleans belong to this group, because they can get votes from both black and white voters.

racial divide? isn't that the same thing going on all over the country? Oh, we are suppose to care that some New Orleans people think they are getting the shaft? Well then move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG yes it is that easy. Some people just wanna sit there and bitch, get the hell over it and move on. Ya there's some crap going on in New Orleans but a racial issue is not major.

For the stupid people in New Orleans who can't buy a clue with their food stamps, you can even see this while your riding in your brand new Escalade. IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE CITY, THEN MOVE OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!
