Geez-It has gotten ridiculous. Bring back the days of yore when whatshisname romped in the fountain with Fannie Fox. You youngsters are just going to have to google it! Now we have "distinguished gentlemen" ranting in the congress against lawabiding men and women in the gay community who live upstanding moral lives while they themselves solicit
sex in public bathrooms with strangers or from congressional pages! Don't they ever have any self-reflection or think about sorting out their lives before they do something so weird? Who cares if Craig is gay--which is what he seems to think is the real important aspect of his behavior. He went to a public restroom, solicited sex with a stranger, did that which is illegal and at the very least unbecoming a man of stature and he doesn't think that is the point? Who are these people who send these idiots to Washington where their have all of our futures and our kids futures in their hands? I need to get a facial, a massage, and a manicure so I can calm down!

Just to play devil's advocate. He was tapping his foot. I was unaware that this was a signal for gay sex. I may have done it myself without realizing it was a crime or even what it meant. Isn't it possible that Craig is innocent?

I do agree though that our elected officials should conduct themselves in an appropriate manner if not to a higher standard than the general populace.

You know...it's possible that he's innocent. But. He plead guilty...and in his position, he had to have known what a poo-storm that was going to lead to. And. Sometimes a tap isn't just a tap, particularly if you're going to put your foot on mine too. You know?

I wasn't there, I was just saying it's possible. But, you're right.

Actually, Tam I agee. How many of us are going to vote for the incumbent in the elections? It's our fault. Ted Stevens of Alaska is a crook and Alaska apparently loves him. I'd rather have an honest gay who keeps his private life private in Washington than this thief and others just like him. Our country is going to hell in a hand basket and I feel like I'm the only one who sees it. This is why my signature had such an impact on me when I first read it.

Actually if you read the report he did much more than tap a foot. It was determined by a trained officer that he was soliciting at a bathroom known for such. Then he didn't scream "I am innocent. Please get me a lawyer. I am so embarrassed. This is ridiculous!" No-he pled no contest. Now he keeps claiming he is" not gay". Like that matters. And on top of that he allows his poor wife to stand next to him while he is in public responding to this mess. What a jerk! Next thing you know he will have the grandkids on display. That poor woman. But what are they thinking, these women who stand next to their men during these public scandals. At least Hillary let Bill twist in the wind for a while!

from http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/08/28/craig.arrest/index.html?eref=rss_topstories

A police officer who arrested him June 11 said Craig peered through a crack in a restroom stall door for two minutes and made gestures suggesting to the officer he wanted to engage in "lewd conduct."

Craig's blue eyes were clearly visible through the crack in the door, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport police Sgt. Dave Karsnia wrote in the report he filed.

"Craig would look down at his hands, 'fidget' with his fingers, and then look through the crack into my stall again," Karsnia wrote in documents accompanying the arrest report.

Craig said the officer misinterpreted his actions.

He's gay and got caught. He thought he could negotiate it down to a lesser charge and plead guilty and it would go under the radar and nobody would know. You don't plead guilty to anything that you didn't do.

Most will not plead guilty when they did something so it is hard to see why someone would plead guilty if they didn't do anything.

I don't think there's a sarcastic smiley out there, so just imagine it...

The problem with the voting electorate is that we always seem to think OUR congressman is better than the awful one one out-of-state, after all, OURS brings home the bacon....

it's all local, remember?

You know, our forefathers had it right. They had to take turns to political posts, and pay was nil or next to it for many years. Now Politicial aspirations is a career. Our founding fathers wanting to get done with Government Business quickly so they could get back to their paying jobs, farming or brewing beer......That meant less government more liberty......I don't trust any of them because they are all in it for the power and money.

I don't care who does what to whomever, as long as it's consentual and isn't flaunted in my face. What happens in your bedroom, or yours and my politician's bathroom stall, is none of my business.

Bur RG--what Craig did, allegedly, is a crime. It is against the law. Do you not think public restrooms should be kept clean-ahem--?

I haven't even read the story.....but if it's a public restroom, that wouldn't be his or his bedroom.....so, it's wrong as far as I'm concerned.
