So now that we know we have a new head law man on the way in Perry County. What do you guys see happening the rest of the year before the new sheriff takes over?
And who do you guys see winning in Nov? Jimmy Dale Smith or Mike Woodard?

I think Woodard will definitely have his hands full, but I do think he has a shot if he will gain some more momentum and don't let up... He needs to be meeting and greeting at least 12 hrs. a day... that is just my opinion though...
O and to address the question you asked about what we think will happen over the next few months since the Sheriff is a sitting duck... I will venture to say about the same thing that has happened for the past 20 years... right next to nothing... sides maybe a little housecleaning in terms of disgarding any incriminating documentation or other such evidence that may be used in a future investigation... Maybe a little evidence dumping...:smt118

You know the Sheriff could do quite a bit. He could go after all those folks that were supposed to have voted for him yesterday.

Is this the same Mike Woodard that used to work for FCSO?

Yeah but in order for him to do that he would have to take the chance that they may turn state's evidence on him.... With him being out of office in a couple of months those that would have testified against him but were scared my find a new supply of courage....:-D

I also think that if anyone wants to commit any crimes in P.C. they better go ahead and do it now cause in about 3 months the opportunity will be lost... There may actually be some investigations now.

I like both candidates who are left in the race. I voted in the Republican Primary, but had I voted in the Dem Primary JD Smith would have been my choice. I think he'll be a big step up, but I do have one nagging question.
One day between now and Nov, I'll have a chance to ask him man to man, and that is how did he stay with the Perry Co SO for as long as he did? That's my only question with Smith.
As of right now I leaning Woodard (based on his experience), but I have no issues with JD Smith.

I don't live in Perry county but I have known Mike Woodard for a long time and Know that he will do a great job as Sheriff. He has a lot of experience in law enforcement and is just a good Christian guy. So vote for Mike Woodard Sheriff of Perry County.

I think that if Mike will get out and work his butt off before Nov., he may have a chance. Alot of people still associate Jimmy Dale with Carlos and that my be his problem. Perry County has voted for a change and Jimmy Dale may not be enough of a change in their minds.

That's a very good point. People in PC want a change. In the primary, more than 70% of voters voted for a change. In the run-off more than 65% voted for a change. It will be interesting to see if voters still tie Smith to the old guard at the SO.

I really like JD. Ive met him before and seen him work on a crime seen. He took everything seriously and did his job well. I agree maybe now there will acctually be some cases making progress.

When we had the cattle farm out in PC I remember two terrible crimes that made me very scared to live there. One on that bridge and one on Freeman (i think). I wanted to move. But I don't remember who was sheriff at the time. Terrible crimes.

Carlos Herring was in office during both of those...
