Ok, so noway threw a fit when I posted MLB vbookie tonight. Why, I don't know. After I told him to kiss my a$$, I decided I would ask you guys what you think. I know there are a few people on here who are baseball fans and who could care less about football and vice versa.
Would you like to be able to bet on Major League Baseball, in addition to College Football and NFL games?
Please let me know.

I don't bet a whole lot but I don't understand why the focus of vbookie HAS to be football. I don't understand the big deal about a league for vbookie and why people have to participate in it. I don't understand why some jackassclowns have to make things more difficult than they need to be.
(for the record...I'd drop a few bucks on my Royals...and maybe a few on the As. Perhaps a dollar or two on the Cards)

Its football season... When the post season starts in MLB sure but now its useless everybody is focused on football. Plus MLB is kinda easy to pick this late in the season..

My only problem with MLB is no odds. When noway did it last year, there would be runs accompanied with it, like Yankees +2 vs Boston meaning Yankees have to win by 2 runs.

I voted to keep the MLB. Baseball is not my favorite sport but I know for some it is and it is not hurting me any. I'll just save my hubbucks for football.

Yes, I want vBookie baseball. Baseball is my favorite sport and I want to be able to bet on it through vBookie. I enjoy vBookie football more than I enjoy football itself.

I don't understand the big deal about having a league for betting either. Aaron has mentioned vBookie being hard on the bank but this is virtual money. I don't get it.
Its football season... When the post season starts in MLB sure but now its useless everybody is focused on football. Plus MLB is kinda easy to pick this late in the season.. I have to disagree completely with that. We bet on it from the beginning of the season and now that we're getting closer to the playoffs, we're supposed to forget about baseball? Let's try that with football...bet through November and then say sorry, we're going to drop it, too bad. MLB games are never an easy pick because any team can beat another team on any given day no matter where they are in the standings.
My only problem with MLB is no odds. When noway did it last year, there would be runs accompanied with it, like Yankees +2 vs Boston meaning Yankees have to win by 2 runs. Who needs odds in baseball? As I said above, in baseball, any team can beat another team on any given day no matter where they are in the standings.
To sum it up, BRING vBOOKIE BASEBALL BACK!!!

Since I know very little nor care a lot about football, you're kind of locking me out of enjoying vBookie aren't you? One baseball game is not easy to pick. How much would you have bet the Mets would lose three in a row to the Braves in NY? Or that the Braves would be up 8-4 in the series against the Mets this year? Who's your slam dunk for the Mets/Braves games this weekend? :smt023

It seems to me it'd be much more dificult to predict baseball. I'd take 2 runs in any game. But I'll play it either way.

Well, yeah, that can happen in any sport. The lines in baseball are usually 1.5-2.5 runs, but it's still there. It doesn't matter so much in the playoffs, but in the regular season if a 80-40 team is playing a 40-80 team, the odds are that the team with the better record will win. Or else, they wouldn't have a better record. If it was really completely random who was going to win, then no one would have a great record.

Yeah, but how many times have we bet with the odds and lost? More than I can count on both hands.
My point is those of us that are baseball fans and participate in vBookie would like to still be able to bet on games. It's not fair to stop in the middle of the season. If you don't want us doing it, don't start in the first place.

I think your example would be the only time the odds are applicable, and maybe not even then. When we had the all-in tournament in MLB, everyone bet on the big favorites, including me, and most lost. In fact, I lost several times in a row, betting on the big favorite every time. I'm not complaining, it was all in fun, but it just shows that odds don't mean much in baseball.

I think you're still trying to compare baseball with football. Baseball is played everyday. Injuries, different pitchers, different players, different set of relievers (or none) are inserted at the last moment that change the dynamics of the game instantly. Playing once a week with the same qb and offence and defense is a different animal. You can't even compare baseball players and teams from one generation to another.

That can't be addressed to me, I didn't start it, and I'm not trying to stop it.

That's correct, and odds would reflect that. For instance, all games scheduled today only have a one run spread.

See above. It's very possible that due to injuries, the team with the better record would have odds to lose.

For the record, I started the MLB games because several people on MH enjoy baseball. Personally, I enjoy watching baseball. The reason why the games stopped about a month ago is because Aaron was switching the vcash/hubbucks system over and I didn't see the point of having people bet money that would eventually disappear. Now that we have the hubbucks, I say bring baseball back. Especially with the pennant race heating up.
Also -- There are not "sure" bets in baseball. It is a 50/50 chance that either team will win. It is not like football in that games are only played once a week.
That can't be addressed to me, I didn't start it, and I'm not trying to stop it.
Yes, it can be addressed to you because for one, you're the boss here, and two, for every person that has said yes and given reasons, you have had a counter response.

And how many of these games will be won by one run? I bet more don't than do.

I'm not an avid baseball fan but I did bet on some games before. I see no reason why you can't have both.:smt103

I rarely get into vBookie stuff unless I'm asked too. I'm only replying to people that are replying to me about odds of an MLB game. I haven't responded to others that have said yes because they like it or given other reasons.
As I said, I like odds, I have always been a proponent of odds because people that are lucky enough to see an event posted that is a "lock" without odds double their money. For those who don't, they stay at the same level. I didn't have the time at first and just bet on the Yankees. Towards the end of the vCash season though, I started actually looking at the games and betting on teams with a better record. I went from $100,000 to $6 million in less than a month. And a lot of other people did too. We had more money won this summer than 2 years doing vBookie. Virgo is the top winner in vBookie from a half of a season of MLB baseball.
Having said that, noway will also tell you that even though I say I would like to see odds on every event, they aren't posted for every event. I treat the bookies as if they were running their own thing. You ask me for my input, I give it. But I'm not going to make them do anything. They are running this and without them, few events would be posted because I'm way to busy with other stuff on the forum.
It's not that I'm against MLB baseball, it's not that I'm against people winning. If you ask for my input, then I would like to see fairness in all sports and events posted on vBookie. If you like football, but don't like baseball, I don't want to handicap you in the competitions here because of it. If you watch American Idol and others don't, then I don't want everyone to get way ahead of you because of it. Odds level the playing field.
Thanks for your input. I will petition the bookies. :)

There is nothing to work out. There will be MLB games. Period. And I really don't see the reason for the spread.

You can't change odds when Soriano's 95 mph fast ball suddenly isn't moving but just goes flat this night. Nor adjust the odds if the wind is blowing out instead of in on this paticular night, or humidity this night is much higher and the ball is heavier. Balls flying out like frisbees last night suddenly are easy pickings for the outfielders. A sinker ball pitcher is starting on an infield where the grass is cut a bit higher to slow down ground ball. You just don't have these dynamics come into play in football. Wind doesn't effect the the football nearly as much, and a blizzard to one team is the same blizzard to another. The field is 100 yards long, every time. Baseball fields have their own personalities. The diamond is the same but the ball flies out to funky corners and angles, and different fences, less foul territories and bigger foul territories:smt102

You know a week in advance who's hurt and probably won't or will start in football. You don't know who the line up is for a baseball team until the umpire gets the lineup card right before a game. You have your money on the Braves and suddenly without warning, Chipper Jones and Andruw Jones are both scratched from the game just to give them a night off. That one run odd goes right out the window. Two of the league leading RBI hitters are scratched from the game. All you can do is say. "Oh Chit!":smt023
