I just saw a City of hattiesburg truck with a bed load of political signs. I thought the candidates were responsible for the removal within x# of days of an election not the city.
Some of the names represented were Carson, Marshall, Eaves, and Lott, there were more names but those were the only ones i remembered, not trying to single anyone out.

What about in Petal. I know of this certain guy running for constable in November. Does he need to come pick up his sign and re-display it in Late October or can it stay in my yard?

I think your yard should be your domain but then again in Petal you have to ask and obtain a permit prior to cutting your own tree? GO Figure

I would think if the sign is well up in your yard and not on property that would be considered "right of way" they would not be allowed to pick the signs up off of your property....I know they had better not come well up into my yard to remove a sign...they would open up a hornets nest!

Most probably all the signs being picked up was on the right of ways and they were getting ready to mow....it still irks me that city dollars have to be spent to take the signs down...the city, county, state needs to bill the candidate want-a-bees for the sign removal or offer them a stay at the Forrest County Hilton!

The signs I have out can stay out, but if you don't want them cluttering up your yard you are more than welcome to take them down and then re-post them around the 1st week or so of October.

Several people thought the election was overwith and pulled up there signs thinking the run-off was the end of it, the coverage wasnt clear so they didnt know.

I actually want to keep the one I got out so more people see it. And also if they see it in my yard they may not be as apt to break into my house.

Other roadside "vendors" take them as well, such as the traveling fern salesmen in Oak Grove...

R1 there was a peanut vendor out here who was set up in the Barrontown grocery parking lot. He had pulled down one of the candidates big signs, flipped it over and wrote "Boiled Peanuts", you could still see the candidates name bleeding through from the other side. The candidate stopped by and gave him a handful of cards to pass out with his peanut sells and let him keep the sign.

Halo, you may want to go by my old house and talk at the new tenants if they have moved in. Your sign is still there and I don't think you would get many votes if I took it out to Sumrall.

They should have started moving in last night as anxious as they were. They may start today though.

Be careful. They are supposed to have an 80 lb. bulldog. Oh yeah, check on Phil the 2nd. he's my albino catfish in my fish pond. He lives under the rock on the front left side of my pond. I gotta find him a new home. :(

I got bit yesterday on a call on Gandy St so one more time won't hurt I guess.

How big is Phil the 2nd?

He's about 6-8 inches long now. When we bought him 2 years ago he was about 2 inches long.

You didn't tase the dog?

At that rate he'll die of old age before you can eat him.

Are the new owners planning to take care of Phil?

I didnt but I did get it out and let it sound off, that did the trick nicely enough. The owner came out and took control of the dog afterwards so the situation didnt get any worse.

I dunno, haven't really talked to them about it. I really need to find a nice g-fish pond for him. Maybe I couldn't donate him to an aquarium or sumthin'. I dunno.:smt102

I wonder if Gander Mountain is gonna have an aquarium. I think I'll go post over in that thread.

I've been seeing John Eaves signs EVERYWHERE out in the rural areas. Not saying that means anything, but I have noticed someone is on sign duty.

They've been out and about. I know that my neighbor had requested an Eaves sign. When they brought it to him, they littered his yard with every democratic nominee that was running for office in the state. LOL
He took down all of the ones that he didn't care for, but kept the metal thingy for use with his tomato plants. LOL :kekeke:

interesting, i saw where the Rankin County Board of Supervisors are considering limited campaign signs to a certain time frame...can't put them out before a certain date and can't leave them out after a certain date. Great Idea..

Also, I keep seeing more and more Eaves/Franks signs in Lamar County. I mean, really, why didn't they just go ahead and throw them in the trash themselves?

I noticed this morning when I got on the interstate that Mike Chaney (sp), running for insurance commissioner, had signs up next to the emergency lane on the interstate... he had a large one preceeded by about 10 small ones... and on the on ramp getting on 98 going to the Turtle Creek Mall he had the on ramp filled with them... I thought there was a rule about them being on the interstate? If not wouldnt every political candidate have theirs on the interstate for the most people to view?

It is illegal to have them there and as soon as the maintenance crews see it, they'll pull them up.

I didnt think it could be legal, if it were you wouldnt be able to see the trees for the signs... each one you passed would be bigger than the next....
