I wonder where all the hard drives have gone...
Still no arrests in City Hall break-in
By TERRY L. JONES
More than a year after a break-in at the Hattiesburg City Hall, no arrests have been made, officials said.
And the longer the case goes unsolved, the less likely it will be that the case is closed, said one law enforcement official not associated with the investigation.

quotes from the HA article
City Hall security cameras captured images of two men who broke into the building sometime late Thursday, June 22, or early June 23, 2006, but Sims said the video quality is too poor to help investigators positively identify the suspects.
I would hope they have improved their camera equipment. What's the use of having it if it's of such poor quality that it's no help?
Sims said he hasn't received any reports of identity theft because of the break-in.
City officials confirmed Sims' statement, and also dispelled speculation that the break-in could have been an inside job.
"We don't have any indication that it was," City Hall spokesman John Brown said. "We're open to the public so we wouldn't dare suspect any of our people, but they (thieves) did go after sensitive information so I know all the avenues were pursued during the investigation."
Okay, so that's not what they were after. Wonder what it could be? What does being open to the public have to do with whether or not it was an inside job?
In previous reports, Brown said there hadn't been any major changes in City Hall's security system since the break-in, but he did say a series of security audits had been performed by city officials to prevent a recurrence.
Someone breaks into city hall, steals hard drives, nobody's been caught yet, and there haven't been any major changes in security???
Yes there has. I hear Dupree had some bullet proof glass put up in his office.

It was my impression that after the break-in they would get an alarm system installed...don't know if it is true or not but I have been told by a couple of people who work there that security was never installed..makes you wonder why.

Boy did you get that right! I really don't think anyone that is "logical" expected the culprits to be caught...
